After a five-year hiatus, Eastern Washington University will honor six former student-athletes on Oct. 19 as the 20th class of inductees into the Eastern Athletics Hall of Fame taking place in conjunction with EWU's football game versus UC Davis at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash.
Rodney Stuckey, a two-time honorable mention NCAA Division I All-America selection for the Eagle men's basketball team (2004-07), will be among those inducted. After setting a myriad of Eastern scoring records, he went on to a 10-year career in the National Basketball Association for Detroit and Indianapolis.
Joining him will be two-time All-America football linebacker
Derek Strey (1993-97), high-scoring All-Big Sky basketball player
David Peed (1987-90), multi-sport All-Big Sky performer
Stephanie Ulmer (2001-06), All-Mountain West basketball performer
Cristy Cochran (1982-86) and track and field All-America javelin thrower
Carolee Geaudreau-Gutierrez (2003-07).
Strey accumulated 346 tackles as an Eagle, including 128 as a senior in 1997 when he helped lead the Eagles to the Big Sky Conference title and the semifinals of the NCAA Football Subdivision Playoffs (then I-AA). Although technically not related, he considers current Eagle
Efton Chism III as his nephew after having a close relationship since high school with Chism's father, Efton Chism II.
Peed averaged 18.3 points in his career as an Eagle, which stood as a school record for 17 years before being broken by Stuckey (24.4). Peed helped lead EWU to runner-up Big Sky Conference regular season and tournament finishes in the 1989-90 season.
Ulmer earned All-Big Sky Conference honors four times in the javelin for the Eastern track and field team, and represented the school at the 2006 NCAA Championships. She also scored 1,031 points and had 195 3-pointers in her career for the women's basketball program, earning two more All-Big Sky accolades.
Cochran earned first team All-Big Sky honors (then Mountain West) in the 1985-86 season when Eastern advanced to the league tournament championship game for the second time in her career. On her way to finishing her career with 1,066 points and 706 rebounds, she became and is still the only player in school history to average at least 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the same season (1985-86).
One year after Ulmer advanced to the NCAA Championships, Geaudreau-Gutierrez made her own appearance and came away as an All-American with an eighth-place finish. She still holds the Big Sky Conference record with a 175-7 throw at the NCAA West Regionals that same year.
The induction breakfast and ceremony is expected to start at 8 a.m. on Oct. 19 at the Pence Union Building's Nysether Community Room on the EWU campus in Cheney, and the public is invited to attend. More information, including cost and and a link for guests to register, will be available soon at

Established in 1996, the Hall of Fame has been fixed at 92 individuals and 18 teams following the most recent induction class in 2019.
