CHENEY, Wash. — For the first time in her career, junior forward
Chloe Pattison was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week announced by the conference today. This is Pattison's first Big Sky Player of the Week honor, and the second Eagle named Player of the Week this season.
Over the weekend, the Eagles split the series against Big West Conference opponents UC Davis and Hawaii. EWU fell 3-2 to UC Davis in their home opener, but bounced back with a terrific 2-0 shutout win over Hawaii. It was Eastern's second shutout win of the season.
In the home-opener, Pattison took advantage of a UC Davis error to tie the game 1-1 in the 39th minute. In the victory over Hawaii, Pattison would score in the 53rd minute to take the 2-0 lead. Pattison recorded two goals, four points, and four total shots with 2 shots on goal over the weekend. The junior has recorded a goal in three straight matches, and is ranked third in the Big Sky in goals (3), and in total points (6). Pattison also leads the team in shots (12), shots on goal (6), and is tied with teammate Kendall Moore in points recorded (6).
"Chloe is really a special goal scorer. There were a lot of opportunities for her last year that came off of posts and bad luck. When she finds her opportunities like she has in the last few games, everything for her changes, and how she moves off the ball, how she threatens, and how she runs at people with the ball at her feet," head coach Missy Strasburg said. " We are seeing her grow massively, and I really think she has the capability of scoring 10-plus goals this year if she feels good about taking more opportunities for herself."
Pattison has been an integral part of Eastern's early season success, as the Eagles are 3-2-1 and off to their best start since the 2020-2021 season.
The Eagles will host San Jose State this Thursday September 12th, at 2:30 pm, and the match will be streaming live on ESPN+. The Eagles will then be on the road to play San Diego State Sunday September 15th, at 1 pm. That match will be streaming on the Mountain West Network.
