Men’s golf ready to build the 2025-26 roster

1/28/2025 4:18:00 PM

CHENEY, Wash. — The fall of 2025 will see the return of the Eastern Washington men's golf to competition. The program will begin competition in the 2025-26 academic year after being discontinued at the conclusion of the 2001-02 year.

Leading the program's restart is Russell Grove, who was hired as the head men's golf coach last week.

Grove's main responsibility at the moment is to build a roster for the '25-'26 season.

Potential student-athletes who are interested in finding out more about the Eastern men's golf program can fill out the Prospective Athletes form.

High Schools coaches can contact Coach Grove for more information about the program through email (rgrove1@ewu.edu) or over the phone (208-659-3971).

Grove spent the last 10 years as the head coach at North Idaho College for both the men's and women's programs. He is also a certified Class Member of the Professional Golfers Association of America, qualifying for the 2023 PGA Championship.

EWU will compete in the Big Sky Conference, joining five other member institutions including Idaho, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State and Weber State.

Eastern's men's golf team made their debut at the NAIA level in the 1960s before playing in NCAA Division II in the 80s. After a 10-year hiatus from 1982 to 1992, the men's program returned with the addition of the women's team and went on to play through the 2001-02 academic year.

In the program's history, the Eagles have seven all-conference selections, along with 11 Big Sky All-Academic Selections.
