SALEM, Ore. — The first fall schedule of Eastern Washington men's golf's return to Division I competition came to a close on Wednesday. The team completed the Beaver Invitational at the Illahe Hills Golf Course in Salem, Ore. EWU shot 893 (+29) and placed 11th at the Invitational.

After struggling in round one (+19), the Eagles improved dramatically in round two (+7) and closed even stronger in round three (+3).

"While the fall season didn't end the way we hoped and planned for this week; it has been a valuable learning experience," head coach Russell Grove said. "We've noticed a pattern of slower starts in the first round, and we're looking forward to addressing that. We're going to have to work really hard over the off-season to get our scores where they need to be heading into the spring. It is also an important time to make some adjustments of getting the core culture and competitiveness of this team headed in the right direction to establish what this program can and will be."

A pair of Eagles moved up the leaderboard, with Cal Anderson and Hogan Park tying for 27th on the individual leaderboard after both shooting 222 (+6). Park had a massive rally, shooting 69 in the third round to move up 31 places. Anderson delivered a 70 in the second round, closing with a 73 on the final day.

Jason Bustos opened his tournament with a 74 and shot 73 in the last round to tie for 40th.

Boise State won the team title, shooting 865 (+1) for the week. The Broncos Cole Rueck took the individual title, after a 212 (-4) performance.

Eastern was a stroke behind Terleton State 892 (+28) for 10th and one stroke ahead of Colorado State 894 (+30) for 12th.
