Pattison Lift Eagles to Gritty Road Win Over Portland State

PORTLAND, Ore. — Eastern Washington secured a gritty 1–0 road win over Portland State in a match that remained scoreless until the closing moments.

"We are exceedingly proud of our women for their effort and commitment this afternoon," said head coach Missy Strasburg. "To respond after a couple disappointing results, do it on the road, with a clean sheet and a late goal to secure the win, is a remarkable testament to the will of our women today."

The opening half was a physical, back-and-forth battle for momentum. Eastern generated quality chances but couldn't find the finishing touch, while Portland State applied consistent pressure, firing off 14 shots. The Eagles' backline stood firm, and goalkeeper Kamryn Willoughby delivered a standout performance with seven key saves to keep the Vikings off the board.

"Excellent execution of stacking 90 minutes of game-winning moments," Strasburg added. "This gives our team a much-needed confidence boost and momentum going into the final two games of the year next weekend."

The breakthrough came in the 86th minute when Chloe Pattison buried the game-winner off a well-placed pass from Delani Walker. Eastern maintained composure through the final whistle to secure the clean sheet and conference victory. The win moves the Eagles to 6-6-4 overall and 2-3-1 in Big Sky play.

"We'd love to rally EagNation out to the field next weekend Friday and Sunday as we finish on two critical matches vs NAU and Northern Colorado," Strasburg said. "Not only do these matches carry major playoff implications, but it will be the last time to see Kam Willoughby, Becca Gaido, Ryanne Ampi, Riley Arribas, Renee Sainz, Lani Walker, and Chloe Pattison take the field in Cheney."
