Eagles Fall Short in Overtime Stunner 79–71 to North Texas

DENTON, Texas. – Eastern Washington fell 79-71 on the road at North Texas, as an offensive burst by the Mean Green in the last minute forced OT which they inevitably won. The Eagles defense shined early, holding off the Mean Green and giving their offense time to find rhythm keeping it a one score game through the half.

Johnny Radford opened the scoring for Eastern knocking down a quick three. The Eagles moved the ball effectively finding Straton Rodgers and Kiree Huie for the score. Alton Hamilton IV came off the bench and made his presence quickly known, getting a quick layup and a three in transition. Eastern ended with a late steal and a three just off the mark to close out at half 33-30. Isaiah Moses led the Eagles with six points and two assists.

The Eagles offense came out early, jumping to a 5-0 run with a two point lead, keeping it to a one score game the majority of the half. Eastern found their flow halfway through the second half, taking a five point lead with a burst from Jojo Anderson and consistent shooting from the floor by Alton Hamilton IV.

Eastern entered overtime tied at 65-65 which proved to be a challenge for the Eagles, who struggled to score early. Costly shooting fouls and turnovers proved to be too much to overcome as the Mean Green offense caught fire that kept the Eagles outside of striking range.

Alton Hamilton led Eastern Washington with 16 points shooting 5-8 from the field and 2-2 from three, while Moses finished with 14 points and four assists. Huie contributed 10 points, and seven rebounds, with EWU's bench adding 31 points. The Mean Green's late offensive spark proved to best the Eagles late.
