Men's Basketball - vs California Baptist (Friday, Dec. 12 at 6:00 PM) - Get Tickets
Eastern is coming off a 1–1 week that helped the Big Sky take down the Summit League in the annual challenge series. The Eagles battled in a high-scoring 93–89 loss at Denver, then responded with a dominant
99–66 victory over Kansas City.
In Denver, Eastern shot the ball exceptionally well—60 percent from the field and 50 percent from three—behind a 28-point performance from Isaiah Moses, with Kiree Huie, Straton Rogers, and Alton Hamilton IV also reaching double figures. Despite leading early and winning the rebounding battle, late defensive breakdowns allowed the Pioneers to pull away.
EWU bounced back two days later with a wire-to-wire win over UMKC, featuring five players in double figures and a team-high 23 from Jojo Anderson. The Eagles forced 21 turnovers, won the boards 38–31, and pushed tempo in transition, turning defensive energy into offense on the way to their second victory of the season.
Moses enters the week ranked second in the Big Sky in scoring—trailing only Preseason MVP Money Williams—while Huie sits fourth in blocks and Rogers sixth in offensive rebounds. As a team the Eagles are fourth in the Big Sky in field goal percentage, shooting .481. The Eagles begin the week 262nd in the NET rankings, with Cal Baptist positioned at 100.

Eastern Washington has a quick road trip down to Pullman on Wednesday to play Washington State. The game tips off at 6 pm and is streamed live on ESPN+.
EWU swept its part of the Big Sky-Summit League Challenge this past week, defeating Denver at home and South Dakota on the road.
Against the Pioneers at Reese Court, the Eagles erased a five-point deficit in the final 18 seconds of the game. Ella Gallatin drove into the paint and hit a clutch two-point jumper with a second remaining on the clock to deliver a 66-65 win.
Jaecy Eggers scored a career-best 26 points, and
Kourtney Grossman set a career-best with 23 rebounds. Grossman's rebounding total was one shy of tying the Big Sky record for a single game.
On the road, Eastern battled the Yotes in close, with neither team leading by more than seven during the game. The Eagles trailed going to the fourth quarter but outscored USD 20-13 to pull ahead and secure a 67-63 road victory. The story was the same for EWU's sophomore forwards, as Eggers scored 24 points and Grossman pulled down 17 rebounds.
Between the two games, Grossman averaged a double-double with 14 points and 20 rebounds. Eggers was the leading scorer, averaging 25.0 points on 48.6 percent shooting. She also averaged 6.5 rebounds.
Rebounding continues to be a strength for the Eagles as the team averages 41.2 total per game, ranking second in the Big Sky. They average 28.7 defensive rebounds, also ranking second, while adding 12.6 offensive rebounds(seventh). As a team, Eastern has a plus-2.1 rebounding margin, good for fifth in the conference.
Grossman has surged to the top of the Big Sky rebounding leaderboard, averaging 11.1 per game, nearly one rebound more than the number two player. With 13.7 points per game, Grossman has four double-doubles this season and leads the team in scoring. Eggers has also surged up the scoring leaderboard, averaging 13.6 points per game,
Track and Field - at Spokane Invite (Saturday, Dec. 13, All Day)
Eastern Washington is set to open its 2025–26 indoor campaign this weekend at the Spokane Invite, held at The Podium in Spokane, Wash. The Big Sky preseason coaches polls were released last week, projecting the Eagle men in a five-way tie for fourth with 46 points, while the women were voted eighth with 36.
Eastern returns a strong core from last year's Big Sky Indoor Championships, where the men placed sixth and the women seventh. The Eagles produced six podium finishes in 2024, and four of those athletes return—three as defending champions. Suzi Woodall enters the year as the reigning women's pole vault champion, while Maddy Shekhawat returns after winning the 60-meter hurdles and earning Co-Freshman of the Year honors. On the men's side, Kris Phennicie returns as the defending 60-meter champion with eyes on more records this season, and distance standout Owen Higgins is back following a strong cross country campaign after placing third in the 800m indoors last year.
The Eagles also bring in a sizable group of newcomers—17 additions on the women's side (including five transfers) and 22 for the men (including six transfers)—building depth and shaping a promising roster for the months ahead.
