IRVING, Tx. — The tradition of academic success continued for Eastern Washington football as 11 student-athletes earned recognition as members of the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honors Society.
Eastern is represented in the Honor Society by McKel Broussard, Efton Chism III, Adam Cohen, Luke Dahlgren, Wyatt Hansen, Brock Harrison, Brenden Rivera, Jack Seelye, Ahmani Williams, Michael Wortham and Austin York.
Student-athletes qualify for the NFF Hampshire Honor Society for maintaining a 3.2 GPA throughout their college careers. Each student-athlete must also be a starter or a significant contributor during the season. They also must be a senior who will graduate this spring/summer and complete their final year of playing eligibility in 2024 or be a graduated player who has been out of high school for three years.
EWU's student-athletes were a part of a record 2,532 players from 339 colleges and universities earning the honor from the NFF.
The 11 Eagles also all earned Big Sky Fall All-Academic honors in January. This is the second Honor Society recognition for Chism, Cohen, Dahlgren, Hansen, Harrison, Rivera, Wortham and York after the group earned the
honor in 2024.
Chism wrote his name all over the record books in his senior season, breaking Cooper Kupp's EWU single season reception record (120) and Kupp's FCS record for consecutive games with a reception (53). The North Highlands, Calif. native set the program record with 1093 kickoff return yards, which led the nation. Wortham ripped off a 100 yard-plus kickoff return against Idaho, the first kickoff return by an Eagle since 2019.
Hansen started all 12 games for the Eagles, helping the offense rank second in rushing and scoring in the conference. The Kent, Wash. native was named an AP All-American Honorable mention and a third-team All-American by FCS Football Central, adding first team All-Big Sky Honors.
Dahlgren, Seelye and Rivera also started all 12 games for the Eagles this season, creating one of the most effective offensive lines in the country. Dahlgren and Seelye both earned All-Big Sky honorable mentions.
Cohen ranked third on the team with 57.0 tackles this season, getting one sack and 3.0 tackles for loss. The Plainview, N.Y. native started all 12 games for Eastern.
