As the season winds down, the Eastern Washington track and field team is preparing for its final tune-ups before the Big Sky Championships in Sacramento, Calif. The Eagles will split their squad this weekend, sending athletes to both the OSU High Performance Meet in Corvallis, Ore. (May 2–3), and the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Ariz., hosted by the University of Arizona on Saturday, May 3.

Eastern is coming off a strong weekend, particularly in the field events, where several athletes delivered standout performances.

Freshman Cort Gebbers stole the spotlight with a massive discus throw that moved him to No. 3 all-time in Eastern history—a remarkable achievement in his first collegiate season. In the javelin, Logan Ashbeck posted his best throw of the year at 60.54m (198-07), coming close to breaking the 200-foot barrier.

In the hammer throw, J.J. Niumaoa finished fourth, with Javen Livas close behind in sixth. Livas also placed fifth in the shot put, while Koda Woodard recorded a personal best of 14.99m (49-2.25). In the long jump, Nic Cunningham secured fourth place with a leap of 6.66m (21-10.25).

On the track, Noah Holden led the men in the 1500m, placing sixth with a time of 4:00.03.

For the women, Anne Shipp, in her first year, finished fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.61m (5-1.25). In the throws, Dyvhon Fonoti took third in the discus and ninth in the hammer, while Dyvhine Fonoti placed fifth in the hammer.

The triple jump was a strong event for the Eagles, with Gilana Wollman and Rachel Hard taking second and third, respectively, and Zoe Dunn finishing fourth. In the javelin, Saira Schener and Kimberly Smith placed fourth and fifth. Suzie Woodall claimed third in the pole vault, while Reghan Skogen and Breauna Erikson tied for fourth.

On the track, Nattie Ruzauskas secured second in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:57.15. Madi Carr placed fourth in the 1500m (4:49.84), and Faith Martinez finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:16.54.
