SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth Peace Meet was a stellar day for Eastern, highlighted by Egypt
Caitlin Simmons' record-breaking leap in the triple jump. The Eagles finished with a total of 22 personal records (PRs), 11 on the men's side and 11 on the women's side.
"What a perfect day for weather here in the PNW," said
Erin Tucker, Director of Track and Field / Cross Country. "We couldn't have asked for better conditions to improve and push ourselves. The Jump Queen set the tone for the day with an incredible performance, smashing her own school record by a full foot! That's how you start off the day! Kudos to Egypt and Coach Jo!"
The women's team had a standout performance in the field events, with Simmons leading the charge. In the triple jump, she shattered the school record with a 13.21-meter jump, securing a spot at number four in the NCAA rankings. In the long jump, Simmons took first place with a jump of 6.19 meters.

"Shoutout to Maddy for nearly hitting his PR in the 110m hurdles while running a solo race," said Tucker. "I can't wait to see what he does when he gets real competition. The school record is definitely in his sights—it's a big part of the goal, but not the only one."
On the track,
Maddy Shekhawat led the men's team with a first-place finish in the 110m hurdles, setting a PR of 13.88 seconds, keeping him in the number two spot all-time.

"The men's 4x1 team ran the fourth-fastest time in school history in their first time running together," Tucker said. "We're on track to break the school record in the men's 4x1! Then, the women's 1500m group stepped up with not one, but two million PRs! Coach Sam and the team made huge strides today, and it was great to see."

Diana Kuwa finished sixth in the 100m hurdles. In the 800m,
Sara Sanders led the Eagles, finishing sixth, with Ruzauskas in seventh and

"Now it's back to training on Monday," said Tucker. "Some of the team will return to Whitworth for competition, but most of us will train this week and gear up for the next weekend. It was a strong first meet after Spring Break, and there's plenty to build on. I like the direction we're heading. Go Eags!"
