Eagles post GPA above 3.0 for 54th consecutive quarter

Eastern Washington athletics continued its standard of academic excellence in the spring

CHENEY, Wash. — The spring quarter was a continuation of academic success for Eastern Washington athletics. The department's 262 student-athletes earned a GPA above 3.0 for the 54th consecutive quarter. Eastern's 12 Division I programs earned a combined GPA of 3.43 for the final quarter of the 2024-25 academic year.  

The "Streak" began in the fall quarter of 2007 and has been carried on by Eastern student-athletes for 18 years. 

"I want to commend all of our Eagle student-athletes for their outstanding commitment to academics, extending our 3.0 GPA streak to an incredible 54 consecutive quarters,"  Director of Athletics Tim Collins said. "Their sustained high performance in the classroom, throughout the spring quarter, exemplifies the academic standards upheld by our entire athletic department. Amid ongoing changes and challenges within the landscape of intercollegiate athletics, this accomplishment reaffirms the steadfast commitment of our coaches and staff to prioritize the academic success and overall development of our student-athletes."

All 14 of EWU's programs recorded a GPA above 3.0 during the winter quarter, as women's golf earned the top mark with a 3.92 GPA. Men's basketball was the top-performing male team, earning a 3.59 GPA. 

Following the standard of excellence, 45 Eagle student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA. Leading the way was Women's track and football with nine 4.0 student-athletes. 

At the conclusion of the academic year, EWU carries a cumulative GPA of 3.49 going into the 2025-26.
