NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. — Following an All-Big Sky season as a junior,
DaJean Wells has earned preseason All-American recognition from FCS Football Central. Wells was slated on the All-American third team defense by the publication, released today.
The Seattle, Wash. native earned an All-Big Sky honorable mention in 2024 after posting 12 pass breakups, ranking second in the conference and 16th in the FCS. Wells totaled 32.0 tackles, making 22.0 solo.
Wells racked up four pass breakups in the '24 season opener against Monmouth and posted three against Montana. Against the Grizzlies, Wells recorded a career best 6.0 tackles, with five solo.
Entering his senior season, Wells has played in 38 games, making 13 starts including 10 in 2024. He has 55.0 total tackles in his EWU career.
Wells is one of 17 players from the Big Sky to be listed on Football Central's preseason All-American teams. He is joined on the third team by Northern Colorado defensive back Cam Chapa.
This past weekend at the Big Sky Football Kickoff, Wells earned preseason All-Big Sky honors.
Wells is one of four returning starts for the Eagles, along with 31 letterwinners in total.
Eastern was picked to finish eighth in the Big Sky preseason media poll and ninth in the coaches. EWU was 3-5 in the conference last season, going 4-8 overall.
The 2025 season begins on the road for the Eagles as they travel to play No. 5 Incarnate Word on Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. Pacific Time.
