CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington women's basketball has completed its coaching staff for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Head Coach
Joddie Gleason announced the hiring of Jaela Eggers as an assistant coach. In addition to coaching, Jaela will function as the Director of Operations for the Eagles, handling traveling and other logistical needs of the team.
Jaela arrives at Eastern after working at Seattle Pacific University last academic year (2024-25) in various roles as a graduate assistant intern. She assisted with administrative support, event coordination and compliance responsibilities for the Falcons. Jaela helped schedule practices, organize home events, along with monitoring academic progress of student-athletes.
Prior to Seattle Pacific, Jaela worked as a Social Media and Events Coordinator intern for George Fox University from January 2023 to April 2024. In her role, Jaela helped monitor and analyze social media trends and incorporate those trends in social media strategies. She also collaborated with the marketing team to create content to strengthen organizational branding and achieve departmental goals.
Outside of collegiate athletics, Jaela spent six years during the spring and summer months as an AAU Basketball Coach in Bellevue, Wash., working as a part of Friends of Hoop Seattle. While working the AAU circuit, Jaela gained experience and developed her passion for mentoring young student athletes. She handled both coaching and administrative jobs in her role as a coach.
Jaela earned her master's of education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington this past June. She earned her bachelor's degree in Organizational Communication and a minor in Business Administration from George Fox in April of 2024.
The job is a family affair for Jaela as her sister, Jaecy Eggers, is going into her sophomore season for EWU.
Eastern Washington's '25-'26 season begins on Oct. 29 with a scrimmage against Whitworth at Reese Court. The regular season officially begins on Nov. 3 against Northwest University in Cheney as well.
Gleason returns nine players from the 2024-25 team, including Big Sky Freshman of the Year Kourtney Grossman. The roster will be bolstered by seven newcomers, including four freshmen and three transfers.
