FARMINGTON, Utah  — After the first week of the 2025 season, Eastern Washington has its first weekly honor. Landon Ogles earned his first career Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week, announced by the conference today.

Ogles booted a 72-yard punt in the opening game against Incarnate Word in week one, giving the senior a new career-long. The punt is also tied for the third-longest punt in EWU history, matching Roldan Alcobendas in 2018 against Weber State. Ogles surpassed his previous career-long of 69 yards.

Against the Cardinals, Ogles punted a total of seven times - matching a career-high - with three traveling more than 50 yards and dropping two inside the 20 yard line. His seven punts accounted for 296 yards for a 42.29 yards per punt average.

Since joining Eastern last season, Ogles has punted 42 times for 1780 yards, a 42.4 average. The San Diego, Calif. native's punting average currently ranks third all-time in program history. Ogles has 13 punts of 50-plus yards and placing 14 inside the 20-yard line.

Ogles' player of the week honor is the first for EWU since Efton Chism III earned Offensive Player of the Week in week one last season. He is the first Eagle to earn a Special Teams Player of the Week since Jackson Cleaver earned the award during the 2021 season.

Eastern Washington travels to play Boise State on the road in week two of the 2025 season, kicking off on Friday, Sep. 5 at 6 p.m. Pacific Time. The Eagles fell to No. 4/5 Incarnate Word this past Saturday, 31-21.

Cal Poly quarterback Ty Dieffenbach earned Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week and UC Davis defensive back Rex Conners earned Defensive Player of the Week.
