BOZEMAN, Mont. —  The road trip for the Eastern women's golf team came to an end on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles placed 7th, finishing (+32). Eastern finished three strokes ahead of Big Sky conference opponents Idaho and eight strokes ahead of Portland State.

"Berkley was a regular in the lineup last year, but the other two sophomores had limited time in the starting five. I'm pleased with how they performed this week with both Natalie [Kent] and Esha [Reddy] posting counting scores," head coach Brenda Howe said. "Lexie Mahler played outstanding in her college debut. She's steady mentally, emotionally, and with her golf swing. I'm excited to see how she progresses as she gets further in the season."

Sophomore Berkley Ledesma picked up where she left off last year, scoring a 69 (-3). Berkeley's three-day performance led her to a 219 (+3) and a tie for 15th among the field.

Freshman Lexie Mahler also had a strong first showing, shooting 226 (+10), finishing T-31 in the tournament.

"This was a good start to our year. We posted a couple of good rounds and saw a lot of improvement from our returners. This is a young team, and we played one freshman and three sophomores in the lineup, along with our lone senior," Howe commented. "We finished ahead of some important conference teams this week, and that showed us we can compete with all of them."

Montana State took the team title, shooting a (-16). Eva Heinz assisted the Bobcats in shooting a 207 (-9) and taking the solo title. Followed closely by Samantha Dizon from Cal Baptist, shooting a 216 (-4).
