They jumped ahead in the third quarter after outsourcing the Griz by eight. Ella Gallatin scored 20 points in the game and Emily McElmurry added 13. EWU had a 48 to 24 scoring advantage in the paint.

The Eagles were locked in a battle with the Bobcats this past Thursday, a game which need overtime to decide the outcome. Eastern struggled with turnovers in the game and MSU took advantage. Five players scored in double figures, with Gallatin leading with 18 points, followed by Caitie Gingras with 14.

Eastern is 1-2 in the Big Sky and 8-8 overall after the second week of conference play. As a team, rebounding continues to be a strength, averaging 43.7 per game to rank second in the Big Sky and 20th in the NCAA. They average 30.6 defensive rebounds and 13.1 offensive.

The rebounding effort is spearheaded by Kourtney Grossman, the nation's rebounding leader with 13.1 per game. Grossman averaged 10.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game on the road trip, securing double-doubles in both matchups. The Billings, Mont. native leads the conference and ranks seventh in the nation with nine double-doubles. Grossman averages 13.1 points per game, third on the team and 14th in the Big Sky.

Gallatin has been the consistent scorer since the beginning of conference play, averaging 17.3 points per game and shooting 46 percent from the floor. She is tied for the team lead overall this season with 13.6 points per game, sharing the top spot with Elyn Bowers

Men's Basketball - at Weber State (Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6:00 p.m. PST), at Idaho State (Saturday, Jan. 17 at 3:00 p.m. PST)

Eastern Washington is coming off a split weekend, edging rival Montana 66–65 before falling 68–64 to Montana State in Big Sky action. The Eagles now head out on the road for a two-game swing, beginning Thursday, Jan. 15, with a matchup at Weber State in Ogden, Utah, set for 6 p.m. PST. Eastern will then travel to Pocatello, Idaho, to face Idaho State on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. PST.

Historically, Eastern is 32–52 all-time against Weber State and has split the last two meetings with the Wildcats. Against Idaho State, the Eagles hold a 55–34 advantage in the all-time series, though the Bengals have won the last two matchups.

In the loss to Montana State, Eastern leaned on its defensive pressure, forcing 17 turnovers and carrying a 23–19 lead into halftime behind strong rebounding and transition play. Isaiah Moses led all scorers with 24 points, while Kiree Huie added 15. Despite keeping the game within one possession late, the Eagles struggled to sustain offensive momentum after halftime, as the Bobcats found rhythm and closed the game at the free-throw line.

Eastern responded with resilience against Montana, rallying from multiple second-half deficits to secure a dramatic one-point win. Moses paced the Eagles with 20 points and five assists, while Emmett Marquardt and Alton Hamilton IV scored 12 points apiece and Huie chipped in 10. The three-point line proved decisive, as EWU shot 43 percent from deep, controlled the paint, and won the rebounding battle. After trailing at the break, the Eagles delivered timely defensive stops and executed down the stretch, with Hamilton's late free throws and a final defensive stand sealing the victory.

Individually, Eastern continues to rank among the Big Sky leaders. Moses tops the conference in free-throw percentage at 90 percent and ranks fifth in scoring at 17.5 points per game, while also sitting eighth in assists. Huie is fourth in the league in blocks at 1.06 per game, and Hamilton ranks sixth in offensive rebounding.

The last time out, the team opened the 2025–26 indoor season with an impressive showing at the Spokane Invitational at The Podium, recording 19 personal bests, two school records, and an event victory in the season opener.

The women set the tone early, highlighted by school records from Melia Middleton in the 300 meters and Diana Fernandez in the 600 meters, both finishing second in their respective events. Eastern added depth across the track, with strong finishes in the sprints, middle distance, and distance races, including personal-best performances in the 3,000 meters and multiple top-eight placings.

In the field, veteran leadership stood out as Suzi Woodall captured Eastern's first win of the indoor season in the pole vault, while Breauna Erickson added a runner-up finish with a personal best. Additional podium and top-eight performances came in the triple jump, long jump, high jump, and weight throw, showcasing consistency across the field events.

The men matched the momentum with strong efforts on both the track and in the field. Jordan McKenzie led the way with a third-place finish in the 600 meters, while several Eagles posted personal bests in the sprints and distance events. Newcomers made an immediate impact in the field, highlighted by Alex Blecha's top-10 all-time mark in the pole vault, along with solid performances in the jumps and throws.

Eastern closed the meet on a high note in the mixed 4x400-meter relay, placing second and third to cap a productive opening weekend and signal a promising start to the indoor season.
