Eagles Come Up Short in 1-0 Battle with Northern Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Eastern Washington finished with 11 shots and put six on goal but could not find the equalizer in a 1-0 loss to Northern Arizona. Maya Bossenbrook led the Eagles with three shots, including one on goal, while Noelle Raczykowski and Delaney Deckett each added two attempts. Mia Miconi, Reese Kincaid, Raczykowski, Deckett and Deanna Montero also put shots on frame. In goal, Payton Hyde played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves while allowing just one goal.

Eastern applied consistent pressure throughout the opening half but entered the break trailing Northern Arizona, 1-0. The Eagles generated opportunities early, earning three corner kicks in the opening 13 minutes. Kincaid and Miconi each put shots on goal during the stretch, while Raczykowski added another attempt on frame in the 28th minute. Hyde was steady on the other end, making a pair of saves to keep the match scoreless.

Deckett provided another quality chance in the 37th minute, putting a shot on frame, but Northern Arizona broke through moments later with the opening goal in the 38th. Hyde responded with another save before halftime as Eastern went into the break down one. The Eagles finished the opening 45 minutes with six corner kicks and four shots on goal.
Eastern came out aggressively in the second half, with Ella Hyde and Bossenbrook each creating chances in the opening six minutes. Bossenbrook continued to challenge the Lumberjack defense, putting a shot on goal in the 59th minute before adding another opportunity three minutes later. Payton Hyde made a save in the 67th to keep the deficit at one, and Montero quickly answered at the other end with a shot on frame.

The Eagles continued to push for the equalizer, earning three corner kicks during a seven-minute stretch midway through the half. Deckett added another opportunity in the 74th minute as Eastern maintained pressure in the attacking third. Northern Arizona hit the post in the 80th minute, but Eastern remained within one and continued searching for the tying goal through the final whistle.
