CHENEY, Wash. — Following undefeated starts to their respective seasons, Eastern soccer and volleyball have earned Big Sky Conference Commissioner's Team of the Month honors for August, the conference announced Tuesday.
Eastern Washington is the only Big Sky school to currently hold an undefeated record in both soccer and volleyball.
On the pitch, the Eagles have opened the 2026 season with a perfect 5-0 record, the best start in program history. Eastern has outscored its opponents 9-1 through five matches and remains the only Big Sky soccer program without a loss this season.
Three of Eastern's five wins have come at the EWU Soccer Field, including victories over Mount Royal, Bucknell and CSU Bakersfield.
The Eagles will look to keep their undefeated start intact on Sunday, Sept. 6, when they host Wyoming at the EWU Soccer Field in Cheney.
On the court, Eastern volleyball opened its 2026 campaign with a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Steve Nimocks Redhawk Invitational in Seattle. The Eagles swept North Dakota and Chicago State before closing the tournament with a 3-1 victory over host Seattle U.
Kalista Lukovich led the Eagles throughout the weekend, earning tournament MVP honors and a spot on the All-Tournament Team before being named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week. Across three matches, Lukovich totaled 52 kills, averaging 5.20 kills per set while hitting .357. She also added 23 digs and nine total blocks.
Eastern returns to action Thursday, Sept. 3, opening the Gonzaga Invitational against Oral Roberts at 2:30 p.m. in Spokane.
The honor marks Eastern Washington's first Big Sky Commissioner's Team of the Month recognition of the 2026 calendar year. The Eagles last earned the award in July 2025, when the women's golf program was recognized after posting the highest team GPA among all Big Sky programs during the 2024-25 academic year.
