CHENEY, Wash. — Eastern Washington women's soccer swept the Big Sky Conference weekly awards, with
Maya Bossenbrook earning Offensive Player of the Week and
Payton Hyde being named Defensive Player of the Week following the Eagles' 2-1 victory over Oregon State.
Bossenbrook helped power Eastern's attack in its final non-conference match of the season, scoring what proved to be the game-winning goal against the Beavers. The forward finished the match with a team-high five shots, placing two on goal as Eastern generated a season-high 25 shots in the victory.
With Eastern already holding a 1-0 advantage, Bossenbrook doubled the lead in the 16th minute.
Mira Scarsella and
Reese Kincaid combined to set up the opportunity before Bossenbrook finished into the bottom-left corner for her first goal of the season.
Hyde continued her strong season in goal, playing all 90 minutes and recording five saves while limiting Oregon State to one goal. The Beavers placed six of their 12 shots on frame, with Hyde making key stops throughout the match to preserve Eastern's advantage.
The goalkeeper came up with an important save in the 80th minute as Oregon State searched for the equalizer, helping the Eagles close out the one-goal victory. Hyde has been a steady presence in net throughout the season, including three consecutive clean sheets to open the year.
The weekly honors come after Eastern closed its non-conference schedule with a 6-2-1 record. The Eagles opened the season with five consecutive victories and enter Big Sky play with momentum following the win over Oregon State.
