2012: Named to the Big Sky ConferenceAll-Academic team. Started all 14 games at right offensive guard.He helped EWU rank seventh in the FCS in passing yards per game(318.9), 14th overall in total offense (442.0) and 17th in scoring(33.7).
2011: Converted from the defensive line, Murphystarted Eastern’s last eight games at right guard after JaseButorac suffered a season-ending knee injury versus Montana(9/17/11). Butorac was already taking the place of Ashton Miller,who was lost for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon inEWU’s opener against Washington (9/3/11). An offensivelineman for the Eagles in 2009 and 2010, Murphy was moved fromdefense to offense in the middle of the UM game to fill-in forButorac. Despite a total of 10 players receiving starts at thatposition, he helped EWU lead the FCS in passing yards per game(368.5) and rank seventh overall in total offense (447.4). Murphyhad moved to defense when preseason practicesbegan.
2010: Started Eastern’s opener againstNevada (9/2/10) at right offensive tackle but was a backup the restof the season. Eastern finished the 2010 season ranked 22nd in theFCS in total offense (397.1 yards per game), as well as rankings of26th in passing (241.0), 49th in rushing (156.1) and 18th inscoring (31.5).
2009: Redshirted. Was selected as theteam’s Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year after earningplayer of the week honors twice.
HS: Graduated from West Albany HS in 2009.Earned first team Class 5A All-State honors as an offensive guardas selected by high school coaches in the state of Oregon. Earnedfirst team All-Mid-Willamette League honors as an offensive guard.He helped West Albany win the State 5A title in Oregon two-straightseasons with perfect 14-0 records. He was also a third teamall-league wrestler and qualifier for the State 5A Championships inOregon.
