Biography

*** Academic Honors Candidate*** 

Career: Has 14 career starts to rank fifthamong returning defensive players. His 14 starts have come in just26 games played in three seasons, as he was limited in 2010 withankle and shoulder injuries and a knee injury in 2011.

2012: Listed as starter at nose tackle onpreseason depth chart.

2011: Named to the Big Sky ConferenceAll-Academic team. Started one game versus Montana (9/17/11), butotherwise was a backup during the 2011 season. Four of his seventackles during the 2011 season came versus the Grizzlies. Waslimited in spring drills because of surgery following a shoulderinjury suffered in the 2010 season.

2010: Played in EWU’s first six games(three as a starter), including Eastern’s opener at Nevada(9/2/10) as starting left end. He had a career-high five tackles ina 36-27 win over Montana (9/18/10) in the debut of EWU’s redSprinturf surface at Roos Field. Cook suffered an ankle injuryagainst Northern Colorado (10/16/10) that was going to keep him outan extended period of time, so he went ahead and had shouldersurgery right away after previously planning to delay that untilthe end of the year.

2009: He started 10 games at strong-sidedefensive end and played in all 12 Eagle games as a freshmanredshirt. He made his starting debut against Western Oregon(9/5/09) and finished with three tackles. He had a season-high fourstops with a sack versus Southern Utah (11/14/09). He earned astarting position in the spring as he finished with a pair ofsacks, two forced fumbles and three total tackles inEastern’s Red-White Spring Game.

2008: Redshirted. Was the team’s scoutteam defensive player of the week once.

HS: Graduated from Todd Beamer HS in 2008.Selected to play in the 4A/3A East-West All-State Game. Was a firstteam All-Area selection by the Tacoma News Tribune as adefensive lineman and a second team choice as an offensive lineman.Named by the Seattle Times as a “White Chip”selection as one of the top 100 prospects in the state ofWashington. Was Defensive Lineman of the Year in the South PugetSound League 4A South Division as he earned first team all-leaguehonors as both an offensive lineman and defensive lineman. He had50 tackles with two sacks as a senior in 2007. Cook was alsohonored on both sides of the ball as a junior, earning first teamAll-SPSL 4A South Division accolades as a defensive lineman andsecond team honors as an offensive lineman. He also playedbasketball in high school.

Personal: Criminal justice major. Born 11/19/89in Oklahoma City, Okla. Will turn 23 two days after Eastern playsat Portland State.
