Career: Enters his senior season with the second-most starts among defensive players with 14.
2015: Listed as a starter at rover on the preseason depth chart. In three spring scrimmages, he had 11 tackles with a pair of sacks.
2014: Was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team for the third-straight year. Played in 10 games (eight starts), but missed four games and parts of several others with injuries. He injured his shoulder versus Montana State (9/20/14) and missed the UC Davis game (9/27/14), then injured his knee versus Idaho State (10/4/14). He missed three games before returning versus North Dakota (11/1/14) and intercepting a pass. He was honored by College Performance Awards as its defensive back performer of the week after finishing with two interceptions and three tackles against Montana (12/6/14) in the FCS Playoffs to earn the team’s co-defensive player of the week honor. He returned the interception 40 yards for a touchdown with 1:40 to play in the 37-20 Eagle victory. He had season highs of six tackles in games versus Washington (9/6/14), Montana (11/8/14) and Illinois State (12/13/14).
2013: Was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team. Played in 13 games at safety for the Eagles, including six as a starter. He made the first start of his career against North Dakota (10/12/13) and finished with a team-high seven tackles with a pass broken up. He missed the Montana State (11/9/13) and Cal Poly (11/16/13) games after suffering a hamstring injury versus Montana (10/26/13). Raynes had seven tackles, a forced fumble and three passes broken up to earn team defensive player of the week honors in the FCS Playoffs against South Dakota State (12/7/13). He closed the year with a career-high 11 tackles versus Towson (12/21/13) in the FCS Playoffs. He was also EWU’s special teams player of the week for his performance against Weber State (10/5/13).
2012: Named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic team. Earned team special teams player of the week honors against Southern Utah (10/27/12). He finished the season with seven tackles, including a pair versus North Dakota (10/6/12).
2011: Redshirted.
HS: Graduated from Inglemoor HS in 2011. Selected for but was unable to play in the 4A/3A East-West All-State Game, which took place July 1, 2011, on EWU’s red Sprinturf surface at Roos Field. As a senior, he was a first team All-KingCo 4A Crown Division wide receiver and defensive back. He was also named his team’s MVP as he finished with 90 tackles. Was also a track and field athlete, running a leg on Inglemoor’s 4x100 relay team that finished fourth at the 2010 State 4A Championships and owns the school record with a 42.64 time. His former Eagle teammate Paul Ena (’09) was also a graduate of Inglemoor High.
Personal: Mechanical engineering major with a 3.42 grade point average after four academic years at Eastern. Born 4/21/93 in Kirkland, Wash. His parents are Loren Raynes and Traci Jean Lange Raynes.
