Career: Brown has played in 39 games in hiscareer, with totals of 181 tackles, two interceptions and 12 passesbroken up. He is just 19 tackles from becoming the 34th Eagle inschool history to finish with 200 career tackles. He needs sixpasses broken up to rank on EWU’s top 10 list in thatcategory. He enters 2013 with 26 career starts, ranking first onthe defense and second overall (Steven Forgette has31).

2013: Listed as a starter at strong safety onthe preseason depth chart. He was a preseason All-Big SkyConference selection as chosen by the league. He was also onpreseason all-league teams as selected by Phil Steele (first team)and College Sports Madness (second team). Ranked 12th on thepreseason FCS safety rankings as selected by Josh Buchanan atphilsteele.com. At the end of spring practices, he was therecipient on defense of the “Iron Eagle” Award forachievements in the off-season in strength and conditioning and theclassroom.

2012: Despite standing just 5-foot-10, 170pounds, Brown finished second on the team with 91 tackles in 2012to help him earn second team All-Big Sky honors. His average of 6.5per game ranked 28th in the Big Sky. He was also second on the teamwith seven passes broken up to go along with a pair of forcedfumbles. He started all 14 games for the Eagles at safety. He had acareer-high 11 tackles against Montana (9/29/12), then had 10 inhis next game versus North Dakota (10/6/12). He ended the seasonwith nine tackles each against Illinois State (12/8/12) and SamHouston State (12/15/12) in the FCS Playoffs. Brown had three ofhis seven passes broken up against Weber State (9/22/12) when healso added five tackles.

2011: Started seven games at safety, includingthe last four after Matt Johnson was lost for the season with ashoulder injury. He had two passes broken up in the 2011 season,with both coming against Northern Colorado (10/15/11) when he alsohad four tackles and an interception he returned 11 yards. He had aseason-high 10 tackles in back-to-back games versus Portland State(10/29/11) and Cal Poly (11/12/11), as he had 24 tackles inEWU’s last three games. His performance against PSU earnedhim team defensive player of the week honors. He finished with 51to rank fifth on the team.

2010: Played in 14 games and made five startslate in the year at safety. He made the first start of his careeragainst Southern Utah (11/13/10) and had five tackles to go alongwith two of the three passes broken up he had during the season. Heended the year with a season-high eight tackles against Delaware(1/7/11) in EWU’s come-from-behind 20-19 win in the NCAADivision I Championship Game in Frisco, Texas. He also had aninterception in that game, one of only three interceptions thatBlue Hen quarterback Pat Devlin had in 384 attempts during the 2010season. Brown had four tackles in Eastern’s 38-31 overtimevictory in the quarterfinals versus North Dakota State (12/11/10).He helped the Eagle defense rank first nationally in interceptions(total of 26) and turnovers gained (47), and finish sixthnationally in red zone defense, as it allowed just 38 scores in 58opponent trips inside the Eagle 20-yard line.

2009: Redshirted. Was selected as theteam’s defensive scout team player of the weekonce.

HS: Graduated from Foss HS in 2009. Earnedhonorable mention All-Narrows League honors as a defensive back. Hecaught 28 passes for 385 yards and four touchdowns to help his teamto a 5-5 record. He also had an interception and nine passes brokenup. As a junior, in just his first season playing high schoolfootball, he caught 17 passes for 291 yards and five scores. Healso had an interception on defense as Foss finished 3-7. He alsoplayed basketball and competed in track at Foss. His Eagle teammateDrew Reynolds (’09) and former teammate Nicholas Edwards(’08) also attended Foss.

Personal: Criminal justice major. Born 9/21/90in Anchorage, Alaska. Will turn 23 during Eastern’s byeweek.
