Biography

2014: Listed as the backup at defensive tackleon the preseason depth chart.

2013: Received a medical hardship year aftersuffering a pair of injuries that limited him to one game played asa defensive tackle. He had arthroscopic knee surgery on Aug. 29,2013, and made his season debut against Weber State (10/5/13). Buthe suffered a shoulder injury in that game that also requiredsurgery.

2012: Was the only EWU true freshman to play in2012, and finished with four tackles.

HS: Graduated from Federal Way HS in 2012.Earned first team 4A All-State honors as an defensive lineman fromAssociated Press as selected by sportswriters and broadcasters. Hewas also a first team All-State selection as a linebacker on teamschosen by both the Seattle Times and Tacoma NewsTribune. Named by the Seattle Times as a “RedChip” selection as one of the top 27 prospects in the stateof Washington. He was also a member of the SeattleTimes “Star Times” All-Area team and was alsoselected to the Tacoma News Tribune All-Area squad. Alsoselected to Ron Siegel’s pre-season All-State team (seniorsonly). He was listed as a 3-star recruit by ESPN, and was ranked asthe 26th-best inside linebacker nationally and the ninth-bestprospect in Washington. Pulu’s senior season was cut shortwhen he injured his ankle in a 41-14 State 4A Playoffs play-in gamevictory against Snohomish. Federal Way went on to lose in the firstround to Eastlake 21-11 and end its season with a 10-1 record. Puluhad a spectacular year to that point, leading Federal Way intackles for the second-straight season and guiding a defense thatheld teams to two touchdowns or less seven times. The Eaglesallowed just 64.2 yards rushing per game (2.5 per play) in theregular season, as they advanced to the state playoffs for only thesecond time since 1976 and hosted their first state playoff gamesince 1976. Pulu was the Linebacker of the Year in the South PugetSound League 4A South Division. He made a team-high 61 tackles inthe regular season, including 50 solo stops, and had a high game of10 1/2. During his junior season, Pulu led Federal Way in tackleswith 65 1/2 on the season, including 54 solo tackles. His best gamecame during a loss to Jefferson when he tallied 15 1/2 tackles. Healso finished with 10 1/2 tackles and two sacks during a loss toCurtis. He was selected by the league’s coaches as a secondteam All-SPSL 4A South Division selection at linebacker. FederalWay finished 4-6 in 2010, meaning they improved by six victorieswhen Pulu was a senior. His EWU teammates D’londo Tucker(’13), Albert Havili (’13) and Jay-Tee Tiuli(’14) also graduated from Federal Way, and his older brotherAndru Pulu (’09) is a former Eagle.

Personal: Social studies education major. Born2/20/94 in Federal Way, Wash. His parents are Logo and Ana Pulu.His brother, Andru, played for the Eagles in 2012 and 2013 aftertransferring from the University of Washington. After his EWUcareer ended, he signed a free agent contract with the SeattleSeahawks. Name is pronounced “pooh-lou.”
