2015: Listed as a backup at left offensive guard on the preseason depth chart.
2014: Played in six games and lettered. Received the first start of his career in the FCS Playoffs against Montana (12/6/14) as an injury replacement at left offensive guard for All-American Aaron Neary.
2013: Saw limited action but lettered. Was the team’s scout team offensive player of the week twice, including before the Oregon State (8/31/13) victory.
2012: Was a non-lettering squad member.
2011: Redshirted.
HS: Graduated from Issaquah HS in 2011. Selected to play in the 4A/3A East-West All-State Game, which took place July 1, 2011, on EWU’s red Sprinturf surface at Roos Field. Although his West squad lost 19-0 to the East, he started at left offensive tackle and was a backup on defense. Earned honorable mention 4A All-State honors as an offensive lineman from Associated Press. Named by the Seattle Times as a “White Chip” selection as one of the top 100 prospects in the state of Washington. Also selected to Ron Siegel’s pre-season All-State team (seniors only). Was the KingCo 4A Crest Division co-Lineman of the Year and earned first team honors as both a defensive lineman and offensive lineman. He helped lead Issaquah to a 9-3 record, including a 49-13 victory over Marysville-Pilchuck in the first round of the State 4A Playoffs. His team’s season ended the next week in the quarterfinals against defending champion and eventual runner-up Skyline. As a junior, Issaquah finished 7-4. His Eagle teammate Jason Schwartz (’14) also attended Issaquah.
Personal: Finance major with a 3.62 grade point average after four academic years at Eastern. Born 5/7/93 in Portland, Ore. His parents are Matthew and Betsy Deines. Name is pronounced “dine-us.”
