Eastern Washington University Athletics

2019: Played in 11 of EWU’s 12 games, and made his season debut versus Washington (8/31/19).  He finished with a pair of tackles, including one versus Lindenwood (9/7/19) and the other versus Idaho State (11/9/19).
 
2018: Redshirted, but played in three games in accordance with a new NCAA rule that allows student-athletes to play in up to four games and still redshirt. He saw action versus Portland State (11/16/18) to end the regular season, and then played in EWU’s first two FCS Playoff games against Nicholls (12/1/18) and UC Davis (12/8/18).
 
HS: Graduated from Union HS in 2018. He was named by the Seattle Times as a “White Chip” selection as one of the top 100 prospects in the state of Washington. As a senior, he was a first team All-Greater St. Helens League selection as a defensive lineman. He helped Union to the 4A GSL title with a 4-0 record and a 9-2 overall mark. The Titans lost to Sumner 42-14 in the first round of the State 4A Playoffs. Also competed in wrestling and track and field at Union, and as a senior finished fifth at the WIAA 4A Championships in the discus with a throw of 159-5. His high school teammate Aiden Nellor also graduated from Union HS 2018. They were coached at Union by Rory Rosenbach.
 
Personal: Majoring in communication studies at EWU. Born 6/29/2000 in American Samoa. Parents are Timothy Fa’aopega and Soa Tarrant-Fa’aopega. Nicknames are “Z” and “Ziggy.” Last name is pronounced “fah-ow-pang-uh.”
