2013: Listed as a starter at defensive tackleon the preseason depth chart. He was selected as a second teamAll-Big Sky Conference selection by College Sports Madness and PhilSteele. He ranked 16th on the preseason FCS defensive tacklerankings as selected by Josh Buchanan at philsteele.com.
2012: Earned honorable mention All-Big Skyhonors. Pulu made his first start as an Eagle at defensive tackleagainst Idaho (8/30/12) and he had one tackle. He had a season-highsix tackles against Sam Houston State (12/15/12), and had fivetackles in each of EWU’s two previous games in the FCSPlayoffs. He had a sack against Washington State (9/8/12) and fourtackles and a quarterback hurry in EWU’s 27-24 win atsecond-ranked Montana State (10/13/12). He missed the Southern Utah(10/27/12) game because of a knee injury suffered versus SacramentoState (10/20/12). Entering the 2012 season, he was ranked No. 29among all FCS defensive tackles by Phil Steele’s FCSCollege Football Preview. Listed as a starter at defensivetackle on the preseason depth chart. In limited action in fourspring scrimmages, he had nine tackles and a pass brokenup.
2011: Was at EWU but not eligible to play. Wasselected as the team’s defensive scout team player of theweek once. In four spring scrimmages in his debut as an Eagle, hehad six tackles and a sack.
Washington: Did not play in 2010, but was oneof 10 true freshmen to see action for the Huskies in 2009. He was aregular in the rotation at defensive end and also a regular on thekick return team. He played in all 12 games, and finished with twotackles. His tackle was a shared sack against Idaho. His othertackle was against Oregon.
HS: Graduated from Federal Way HS in 2009.Named by the Seattle Times as a “Red Chip”selection as one of the top 22 prospects in the state of Washingtonand received honorable mention as a “Northwest Nugget”by the Tacoma News Tribune. He was named the South PugetSound League 4A Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year, when he alsoearned first team All-SPSL honors as an offensive lineman andlinebacker despite missing the latter part of the season due toinjury. He also made the Seattle Times preseason All-Stateteam. He was rated as the No. 29 strong-side linebacker in thenation by scout.com and was ranked as the No. 122 recruit in thewest by superprep.com. He led the Eagles to the first round of theState 4A Playoffs for the first time since 1976 as the teamfinished 8-3 overall and 7-2 in league play his senior year. He wasalso named to the All-SPSL first team defense and second teamoffense as both a sophomore and junior. He had 74 tackles as asophomore and 62 as a junior. Federal Way was 8-2 overall and 7-2in the league his junior season, helping the Eagles win the leaguetitle for the first time in 31 years. He also threw the shot anddiscus for the track team and made it to the State 4A Championshipsin the shot put as a junior, finishing 11th.
Personal: Interdisciplinary studies major. Born7/29/91 in Seattle, Wash. Son of Logo and Seioliani Pulu. Hisbrother, Jordan, graduated from Federal Way High School in 2012 andwas the only true freshman to play for the Eagles in 2012. TheirEagle teammates D’londo Tucker (’13) and Albert Havili(’13) also graduated from Federal Way. Name is pronounced“pooh-lou.”
