Biography

2011: Listed as a reserve at free safety onpreseason depth chart.

2010: Was a non-lettering squad member.

2009: Redshirted.

HS: Graduated from O’Dea HS in 2009.Named by the Seattle Times as a “White Chip”selection as one of the top 100 prospects in the state ofWashington. In addition, he was listed as “others towatch” on Ron Siegel’s preseason All-State squad.Earned first-team All-Metro League Mountain Division honors as asenior. He helped lead O’Dea to an 8-3 record, including a21-16 loss to Lakes in the first round of the State 3A Playoffs.Gayton missed all but three games for O’Dea in 2008 becauseof a nagging hamstring injury. He had three interceptions andbroke-up four passes in those three games. As a junior, he earnedfirst-team Metro League Mountain Division honors as a defensiveback and second-team accolades as a wide receiver. He finished hisjunior season with four interceptions and nine passes broken up,and also returned eight punts for 265 yards (33 yards per return)and three touchdowns. O’Dea was 13-0 in 2007 before losing42-35 to Skyline in the championship game of the State 3APlayoffs.
