Biography

2015: Listed as a backup at boundary cornerback on the preseason depth chart, but is expected to push for a starting position.

2014: He made the first start of his Eastern career against Washington (9/6/14), and finished with a season-high six tackles to earn team defensive player of the week honors. His lone interception of the season came one game earlier versus Montana Western (8/30/14). He eventually played in all 13 of Eastern’s games, including 11 as a starter. He missed the North Dakota (11/1/14) game with a foot injury. He officially transferred to EWU in the summer of 2014 after spending the spring as a starter at Arizona State University.

Arizona State: Played in 10 games in 2013, registering seven tackles in a 54-13 victory against Colorado (10/12/13). A torn labrum forced him to redshirt the 2012 season, but he spent time on the scout team as a defensive back. He played in 10 games at cornerback and special teams as a true freshman in 2011, finishing with six tackles. He suffered a season-ending knee injury versus Washington State (11/12/11). Former Eagle Marcus Walker (2005-06-07-08) is the ASU football program’s academic coach.

HS: Graduated in 2011 from Lakewood High School in Long Beach, Calif. Named to the PrepStar All-West Region Team following his senior season. Ranked by Scout.com as the No. 60 cornerback prospect in the nation and was listed as the No. 82 cornerback in the country by ESPN. Earned second team All-Southern California honors in 2010 by GoldenStatePreps.com. Registered 40 tackles and three interceptions on defense as a senior and rushed for over 800 yards and nine touchdowns. He helped his team advance to the quarterfinals of the of the CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Playoffs on Nov. 26, 2010, falling 42-21 to Alemany and eventual EWU quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. Totaled 37 tackles, six pass deflections and three interceptions as a junior in 2009 and added 73 carries for 602 yards (8.3 average per rush) with five touchdowns. In his junior season he helped lead Lakewood to the Moore League championship and the CIF-SS Pac-5 semifinals. Chose ASU over Colorado and Miami (Fla.) and also had scholarship offers from Colorado State, Idaho and Washington State. He had a 4.49 40-yard dash time in high school.

Personal: Interdisciplinary studies major. Born 9/13/92 in Los Angeles. Will turn 23 the day after EWU plays at Northern Iowa. His mother is Aneesah Wadood. His brother, Jaleel, had 59 tackles in 13 games (starting eight) at UCLA as a true freshman in 2014 after graduating as a highly-recruited defensive back from St. John Bosco High School in the Los Angeles area. Rashad trained in California with former Eagle cornerback Ryan Kelley (2007-08). Last name is pronounced “Wah-doo.”
