Head Coach Aaron Best on Ortega: "Tony was a late find by Coach Jase Butorac. Size wise, it allows him to play the center and/or guard position. One thing Tony presents when you talk to him about football and why he does what he does, is he has some nasty in him on the football field. He enjoys, appreciates, loves and respects the game. Again, he is one of those players who was a late bloomer. He has good size and he'll have greater size once he gets to a college setting. He is a player that fits the mold of a player who may have been a little overlooked, but also is a player with untapped potential at that position and he is giddy to get onboard. We're excited about bringing him onboard, especially at the offensive line position that has been tradition rich for the better part of three decades."

HS: Was coached by Michael Don at Eastmont High School in East Wenatchee, Wash., where he earned four letters in football… Was the Columbia Basin Big-9 (CBBN) Lineman of the Year as a senior and was also named to the CBBN first team… Eastmont High School also won Offensive Line of the Year… Guided the Wildcats to an 8-3 record as a senior where Eastmont made the first round of the WIAA 4A Playoffs.

Personal: Born on June 21, 2004 in Wenatchee, Wash…. His parents are Eva Montes and Jose Ortega… Is a first-generation college student… Intends on majoring in construction management at Eastern Washington with aspirations of owning his own construction company.
