OGDEN, Utah -- The Eastern Washington University women's basketball team looks to make another step towards claiming one of the remaining Big Sky Tournament byes this week, as they travel to Weber State and Idaho State in the team's 2016-17 road finales. The road trip begins with a 6 p.m. PT tip against the Wildcats on Thursday (Feb. 23) and ends on Saturday (Feb. 25) with a 1 p.m. PT matchup against the Bengals.
Eastern is still jostling for Big Sky Tournament seeding with two weeks left to play in the regular season, as they are currently in a three-way tie with Idaho and Idaho State for the fourth and final Big Sky Tournament bye. The Big Sky Tournament picture will become much clearer after this week of play, as the Vandals and Bengals will meet on Thursday, before the Eagles and ISU play in Pocatello, Idaho on Saturday. Currently all three teams stand at 9-5 in the Big Sky, a full three games back from current leader, North Dakota.

The Eagles, who are 14-11 overall this season, will look to get their season-long three-game Big Sky road trip back on track after opening it with a 78-51 loss to a hot-shooting Idaho team last Saturday.
How to Watch
Both of this week's games will be streamed nationwide on WatchBigSky.com and on the Watch Big Sky App.
Last Time Out
Junior Delaney Hodgins moved into sixth on the Eastern Washington University women's basketball all-time scoring list on Saturday (Feb. 18), but her 14-point effort would not be enough to lift the Eagles to a victory, as they fall at Idaho, 78-51.
Eastern Washington ran into a hot-shooting Vandal team on Saturday, as Idaho drilled 13 3-point field goals to snap a three-game regular season losing streak to the Eagles. UI opened the game up in the third quarter, as they hit five triples in the frame to turn an eight-point lead at the half into a 20-point advantage heading into fourth.
Looking for a Pair of Sweeps
Eastern Washington will look to put a cap on a season sweep of both Weber State and Idaho State this week, as they knocked off both teams in Reese Court back in mid-January.
The Eagles grinded out a 58-41 win over the Bengals back on Jan. 12, before scoring a season-high 99 points in a 14-point win over the Wildcats on Jan. 14.
Getting Closer to Big Sis
This past Saturday, junior Delaney Hodgins pulled one spot closer to her elder sister's all-time scoring record at Eastern Washington, as she moved into sixth-place on the Eastern Washington all-time scoring list last Saturday.
To date, Delaney has scored 1,297 points in her Eastern career, which is 568 points shy of tying Hayley's career mark of 1,865 points, which was set last season. The younger Hodgins needs just 92 points to surpass Lexie Nelson (1,388 pts; 2013-15) for fifth on the all-time scoring list.
Holding On to the Lead
Junior Delaney Hodgins is in a stiff three-woman race for the Big Sky scoring title entering the final two weeks of the regular season. The forward currently leads the conference in scoring at 17.9 points per game, however, she has a slim lead, as Idaho's Mikayla Ferenz is at 17.8 points per game and Montana State's Peyton Ferris is putting 17.6 points per game.
Looking to End Strong on the Road
This week will be the final road trip of the 2016-17 season for Eastern Washington. The Eagles enter the trip looking to secure a winning record on the road for the second-straight season, as they are currently 6-6 in true road games.
Eastern recently had a three-game winning streak away from Reese Court come to an end last Saturday at Idaho, while they are 4-3 in Big Sky road contests this season.
Handle with Care
Eastern Washington has made a living off pick-pocketing opponents this season, as they are second in the conference in steals at 10.7 per game.
Freshman Symone Starks ranks second in the Big Sky in steals at 2.5 per game, while redshirt senior Tisha Phillips is seventh in the league with her 2.0 swipes per contest.
Knowing Your Opponent: Weber State
The Wildcats need to win out and receive some help to keep their hopes alive for a Big Sky Tournament bye. WSU enters this week three games back of a three-way tie between Eastern Washington, Idaho and Idaho State for the Tournament's fourth and final bye. Weber State is currently in fifth place at 6-8 in the Big Sky and 12-13 overall on the year.
Emily Drake leads the Wildcats in scoring at 13.9 points per game, while Deeshyra Thomas is just behind her at 13.7 points. As a team, Weber State averages 69.3 points per contest, which is right in the middle of the pack in the conference rankings, and shoots 39.2 percent from the floor.
Defensively, Weber State is allowing an even 70 points per game. Teams are shooting 43.3 percent against them, which is the second-highest opponent field goal percentage in the conference.
Knowing Your Opponent: Idaho State
It's a big week for the Bengals, as they host both teams they are currently in a three-way tie with for the final Big Sky Tournament bye. Idaho State host Idaho this Thursday, before taking on Eastern Washington on Saturday. All three teams enter the week tied at 9-5 in the Big Sky. On the year, ISU sits at 15-10 overall.
Despite sitting near the top of the Big Sky standings, Idaho State is second-to-last in the conference in points-per-game at 60.5. The Bengals are shooting 37.2 percent from the field this season, which is 10th-best in the league. Saylair Grandon leads the team with her 11.4 points per game, while Grace Kenyon puts up 10.4 points per contest.
Defense has been winning games for Idaho State this season, as they are giving up a league-best 60.5 points per game. Teams are shooting just 36.3 percent against the Bengals. Rebounding has led the way for ISU, as they are grabbing 41.6 caroms per game, while giving up a league-low 34.3 rebounds per contest. The Bengals have allowed more than 60 points in just four Big Sky contests this season.
