DAY ONE RESULTS
Â
The Eastern Washington University track and field team kicked off the 46th Pelluer Invitational with runner-up finishes in the discus from seniors
Paris Flenoy and
Scott Miller. The rest of the Pelluer Invitational takes place Saturday (April 14) with field events starting at 10 a.m. and running events beginning at 1 p.m. All events except the throws will take place that day at Roos Field in Cheney.
Â
"We had three personal records on the women's side with
Paris Flenoy leading the way with a fifteen foot personal record," women's head coach
Marcia Mecklenburg said. "On the men's side,
Scott Miller also was the top finisher. We have a great discus ring and I think it really helped the performances today."
"Our throwers are amazing," men's head coach Stan Kerr said. "Watching today's discus competition with the cold and rain and the wind was certainly a time to dig deep and rise above the elements, which our crew did. Scott and Dante showed their vigilance by remaining focused on the here and now with each throw. Â As goofy as this weather has been, it's possible we'll encounter this type of weather at the Big Sky Championships. If that holds true, I am confident in our guy's ability to get the task done under any conditions."
