FULL RESULTS
CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team won 6-1 against Weber State today (Apr. 21) at home. The victory puts the Eagles at a 9-11 mark overall, 6-4 in conference.
"Great team win today," said head coach Dustin Hinson. "The challenge I gave the team today was 'show me who wants it more' and we really came out like we had the desire to perform well. I am very happy with that kind of mindset and we are going to bring the same approach to our regular season finale tomorrow."
The Eagles got the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 3. Janaya Smith and Rylee Braeden won 6-2 at No. 1 and Stephanie Broussard and Rachel Swindell won 6-3 to secure the doubles point allowing Zoey Nelson and Faye Worrall's match to go unfinished at 5-3.
Smith opened up singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over her opponent. Zoey Nelson forfeited her match at No. 2 due to injury (2-6, 3-2) before Braeden found success winning 6-2, 6-2. Stephanie Broussard followed at No. 4 (6-0, 6-2) and Faye Worrall took her match to three sets and won 6-4, 3-6, 12-10. Swindell ended the day for the Eagles with a 6-2, 6-1 win over her opponent.
The Eagles will recognize their two seniors, Janaya Smith and Rachel Swindell, tomorrow (Apr. 22) for Senior Day. The presentation will start at 9 a.m. and the match will follow at 10 a.m.
