GILBERT, Ariz. — Women's Tennis' focus on academics continues to pay dividends as the program earned year-end awards. Eastern Washington earned the All-Academic team honor from ITA, announced earlier this month. 

Along with the team award, six Eagles earned Scholar-Athlete honors for the year. Anait Arutiunian, Maria Lopez, Olivia Marais, Zoe Pradel, Sara Vasic and Aneliss Zamfirescu all qualified for the Scholar-Athlete award. 

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:

• Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
• All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
• All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

• Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
• Be listed on the institutional eligibility form

During the 2025-26 academic year, Eastern posted a 3.77 cumulative GPA. The Eagles earned a 3.75 GPA in the spring quarter.

The Scholar-Athlete award is the second postseason academic award for Ariutiunian, Marais, Pradel and Vasic after the four earned CoSIDA All-District honors in May. The six scholar-athletes were also all named to the spring Big Sky All-Academic list. 

Pradel added to her trophy case this season, earning All-Big Sky second team honors for singles. The Taouluse, France native went 5-3 in conference matches and 11-8 overall, playing primarily at No. 3. In doubles, Pradel and Marais went 4-4 in Big Sky matches and 7-10 overall at the No. 1 spot.  

Marais played the role of closer for the Eagles this season, posting three match-clinching wins. Playing at the No. 5 spot, Marais was 5-3 against Big Sky foes and 10-5 overall. The Lodi, Calif. native earned her first career Big Sky Tennis Player of the Week in March. 

In her senior season, Arutiunian posted a 6-10 overall record in singles and 4-4 in the conference matches, playing at the No. 1 spot. 

Vasic played doubles primarily this season, partnering with Arutiunian for a 3-6 record in the Big Sky matches and 7-10 overall. The two played at the No. 2 doubles position. 

Lopez and Zamfiresecu excelled on the court in their freshmen seasons. Zamifirescu carried a 9-10 overall singles record, including 4-5 in conference, in the No. 6 spot. Lopez, playing with Leandra Nizetic in doubles, was 3-5 in conference and 8-9.
