CHENEY, Wash. – As the first part of Big Sky Conference play rolls on, the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team is prepping to head out on the road once more. After an eight-day break from competition, the Eagles take on Montana State on Saturday, Jan. 19 in Bozeman for a 1 p.m. Pacific time tip-off.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: The Eagles, who have played seven of their last eight games on the road, are coming off of a 68-62 win at Montana on Jan. 10. Eastern is currently 3-11 overall with a 2-3 mark in Big Sky Conference play.
Eastern Washington is led by its newest member of the 1,000-point club,
Violet Kapri Morrow. The senior averages 17.5 points per game which is 79
th in the nation and fifth in the Big Sky. She also ranks within the top-100 nationally with a free throw percentage of 80.9 after making 55-of-68 from the line this season. Additionally, she leads the team in rebounds with 5.8 per contest and 1.7 steals per game.
Freshman
Grace Kirscher follows with 9.9 points per game. She has drained at least three three-pointers and grabbed seven boards in two-straight contests and has scored in double figures in the last three games.
Alissa Sealby averages 8.8 points per game and has made at least two three-pointers in four-straight games while logging the most minutes out of all the Eagles with 32.9 per game. Sealby, along with freshman
Bella Cravens, lead the team with 11 total blocks on the year.
Brittany Klaman leads the team with 2.1 assists per game.
As a team, the Eagles are averaging 57.2 points per game while shooting 36.0 percent from the field and 31.5 percent from beyond the arc. They rank 78
th in the nation with 7.4 three-pointers per game. Eastern Washington ranks in the top-five in the conference in steals per game (7.2) and forced turnovers per game (16.7)
LAST TIME OUT: Eastern Washington picked up a crucial 68-62 Big Sky Conference road victory over Montana in Missoula on Jan. 10. The Eagles never trailed in the win and
Violet Kapri Morrow led the way with 17 points, while also becoming the newest member of Eastern's 1,000-point club, in addition to three others in double figures.
In the fifth-straight win over the Grizzlies and just the sixth all-time victory on the road in Missoula,
Grace Kirscher scored 15 points followed by
Andie Easley who had a career-high 14.
Alissa Sealby rounded out the scoring with 11 points.
Although the Eagles only shot 39.3 percent (22-56) from the field, they were lights out on the perimeter with a season best 10 three-pointers on 20 attempts while making 14-of-19 (73.7%) from the free throw line.
The Eagle defense limited the Grizzlies to just 36.4 percent (20-55) from the field and UM was 1-14 from three-point range. Montana made 21 of 29 free throw attempts.
Eastern also posted a season-low 11 turnovers and forced 14. Although they were out-rebounded 41 to 33, they recorded eight steals to Montana's six. Eastern scored 16 points off of the turnovers and the bench added 22 points.
A LOOK AT THE BOBCATS: Montana State currently sits at 9-7 overall and 4-2 in Big Sky Conference play to rank sixth in the standings.
The Bobcats have two players that average double figures in Claire Lundberg (17.8) and Oliana Squires (11.4). Squires also leads the team with 4.1 assists per game while Lundberg knocks down 41.3 percent of her three-pointers to lead the conference.
Montana State averages 64.9 points per game while shooting 39.8 percent from the field. They allow their opponents to shooting 41.5 percent with an average of 66.2 points per contest. MSU is steady from the free throw line, rankings 73
rd in the nation with a free-throw percentage of 72.8. The Bobcats can also shoot from three, averaging 6.7 makes per game.
SERIES HISTORY: Montana State leads the all-time series, 41-34. Although the Eagles have won six out of the last 10 matchups, they are looking to snap a four-game losing streak to the Bobcats.
Eastern's last win over MSU came on Jan. 21, 2016. The Eagles are just 13-22 all-time at Worthington Arena and are looking for their first win in Bozeman since Jan. 31, 2013.
The last two meetings have been decided by three points or less. Eastern lost 77-74 in Bozeman on Feb. 17, 2018 for the lone meeting last season.
1,000 POINTS AND COUNTING: Needing just seven more points entering the game at Montana, senior
Violet Kapri Morrow scored 17 and became the 18
th member of Eastern Washington's 1,000-point club. She was the 15
th fastest Eagle to reach the prestigious milestone in 106 games and the first EWU player to join the club since
Delaney Hodgins during the 2016-17 season.
Morrow now has 1,010 career points which is 18
th all-time on Eastern's career scoring list, needing just 11 points to move into 17
th.
COMING UP AT REESE: The Eagles will return home to a rambunctious crowd at Reese Court on Jan. 24 when they host Portland State for the annual Kid's Day. Over 3,800 local elementary school students will be on deck to cheer on the Eagles for a special 11 a.m. matinee.
Eastern's home stand continues on Saturday, Jan. 26 against Sacramento State at 2 p.m.
