After Scoring 37-points at Montana State, Violet Kapri Morrow is the College Sports Madness Big Sky Player of the Week

Morrow scored the game-tying and game-winning baskets in Eastern’s come-from-behind overtime win on Saturday

After leading all scorers with a career-high 37 points and helping lift the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team to an overtime victory at Montana State on Saturday, Violet Kapri Morrow has earned the College Sports Madness Big Sky Player of the Week nod for the first time in her career.

The Eagles, who found themselves in a 14-point deficit to start the fourth quarter after trailing most of the game, scored 33 points in the fourth period of play. With 12 seconds remaining, Morrow hit a contested three-pointer to send the game into overtime with a 74-74 tie.

Morrow started off the scoring for the Eagles in the overtime period with another three-pointer, her fifth of the day. She wasn't finished with the big shots, Eastern Washington trailed 87-86 with seven seconds remaining when Morrow took the ball coast-to-coast and scored the layup for the game-winning basket. She was fouled and completed the old-fashioned three-point play to give Eastern the 89-87 victory.

Ten of Morrow's 37 points came in the overtime period and the effort ranks her third all-time in program history for points in single game.

She finished the game with 14-of-23 (60.8%) shooting from the field and drained a career-best five three pointers on eight attempts (62.5%). The Tacoma, Wash., native also went 4-for-5 from the free throw line (80%) while adding five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

The performance is just another highlight on an already stellar year for the senior. On Jan. 10, 2019, Morrow became the 18th member of Eastern's 1,000-point club at Montana, needing just 106 career games to reach the feat.

Although the milestone has been reached, Morrow continues to climb the Eastern's all-time scoring list. With 1,047 career points, she ranks 15th all-time on the list and needs just 19 more points to move into sole possession of 14th.

With an average of 19.0 points per game, and 21.3 in conference play, Morrow ranks third in the Big Sky Conference in scoring and 40th nationally. She has scored in double figures in all 13 games she's played in this season and has a streak of 16-straight dating back to last season. Morrow is also the most active Eagle on the boards, pulling down an average of 5.7 per game.

The senior shoots 43.5 percent from the field and ranks within the top-100 nationally with a free throw percentage of 80.8 percent (59-73).

A Third-Team All-Big Sky selection in 2017-18, Morrow will be honored prior to Eastern Washington's home game against Portland State on Thursday (Jan. 24) for becoming the newest member of Eastern's 1,000-point club. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m. for Kid's Day, as over 4,000 local elementary school students will be on hand to cheer on the Eagles.
