Eastern Heads to Seattle for Two Matches this Weekend

Eagles take on Portland and Washington on Saturday and Sunday

CHENEY, Wash.-- The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team is on the road this weekend as they take on the University of Portland on Saturday (Jan. 26) and the University of Washington on Sunday (Jan. 27) in Seattle, Wash.

"We have had some great training days since our first match of the season and I have seen some really nice improvement in our shot selection, which makes a huge difference on match day," said head coach Dustin Hinson. "We play two tough teams in Seattle this weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing how the team is able to use the tactics we've been practicing in real match situations."

The Eagles return to play following a loss to Washington State (Jan. 12). Eastern is now 0-1 on their 2019 schedule and look to bring home two victories this weekend on the road.

EWU will start the two match road trip off with Portland on Saturday at 1 p.m in Seattle, Wash. Portland is currently 1-0 on the year with a win of 7-0 over Chaminade. UOP is led by head coach Susie Campbell, who is in her 27th season as head coach.

Following their match against Portland, the Eagles will then take on the University of Washington at 10 a.m. in Seattle, Wash. The Huskies are currently 1-0 on their schedule with a victory of 4-1 over Hawai'i on January 17th. UW is led by head coach Robin Stephenson, who is in her fifth season as head coach.

After EWU's two matches this weekend, they will return to play the following Saturday (Feb. 2) for their first home match of the 2019 season against Seattle University. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. in Cheney, Wash.
