CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's basketball team is preparing to hit the road once more, as the Eagles take on Montana on Jan. 10 in Missoula. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Pacific time.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington is 2-11 overall with a 1-3 mark in Big Sky Conference play. The Eagles are coming off of a 67-62 overtime loss at home to Northern Colorado on Jan. 7.
Violet Kapri Morrow, who is just seven points away from becoming the 18
th member of Eastern's 1,000-point club, leads the team with 17.5 points per game which is sixth in the Big Sky and in the top-100 nationally. She is also the most active Eagle on the boards with 5.6 per contest while leading the team with 1.7 steals per game.
Freshman
Grace Kirscher averages 9.5 points per game, including 10.3 in conference play. Senior
Alissa Sealby scores 7.8 points per contest and ranks third in the Big Sky with a three-point field goal percentage of 42.9 (18-42). She also leads the team with 0.8 blocks per game.
As a team, the Eagles average 56.4 points per game and are shooting 35.7 percent from the field. They rank fourth in the conference with 3.4 blocks per game and 7.2 three-pointers per game.
LAST TIME OUT: After six games straight on the road, the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team returned to the familiar confines of Reese Court Monday evening (Jan. 7) as they hosted Northern Colorado in Big Sky Conference play. In a game that saw 10 lead changes and 14 ties, it inevitably landed in overtime where the Eagles fell 67-62 to the defending Big Sky Champions.
Violet Kapri Morrow, who led the team with 21 points and is now seven points away from the 1,000-point club, tied the game 58-58 with a layup with 3.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter which eventually sent the game into overtime.
Eastern had two other players in double figures, including
Grace Kirscher who had 14 points and
Alissa Sealby who notched a new career-high of 12.
The Eagles shot 34.5 percent from the field on 20-for-58 shooting to UNC's 39.1 percent (27-69). Eastern Washington drained eight (8-25) three pointers while Northern Colorado had six (6-28). EWU also out-rebounded the Bears, 43 to 41. Each team had six blocks while Eastern's bench outscored UNC's bench 11-to-2.
A LOOK AT THE GRIZZLIES: Montana sits in a three-way tie for second in the conference standings with an 8-5 overall record and are 3-1 in Big Sky play. Last week, the Grizzlies beat Sacramento State 88-86 in double overtime before falling to Portland State 78-60 on the road.
Montana has three players in double figures, led by McKenzie Johnston with 12.2 points per game. Jace Henderson (10.8) and Emma Stockholm (10.2) round out the scoring. Henderson also leads the Grizzlies with 7.5 rebounds per game while ranking second in the conference with a field goal percentage of 55.3. She also ranks sixth in the conference with 4.0 assists per game.
Abby Anderson leads Montana with 1.6 blocks per game which is third in the Big Sky.
The Grizzlies are fourth in the Big Sky with 68.4 points per game and are shooting 43.2 percent from the field which is second. As a team, they are third with 3.8 blocks per game and second with 16.0 assists per game.
SERIES HISTORY: For only the fifth time in program history, the Eagles found success on the road in Missoula last season on Feb. 15 when EWU topped Montana by a score of 75-72. The win was head coach
Wendy Schuller's 250
th career victory at Eastern Washington. In the victory, Eastern drained 11 three-pointers and shot 52.4 percent from behind the arc.
The squads only met once last season, and although the Eagles trail the all-time series 16-64 they have won the last four-straight meetings including six out of the last 10. Two of those four have come on the road despite Eastern's 5-38 all-time record in Missoula.
KAPRI'S QUEST TO 1,000: Senior
Violet Kapri Morrow is on the road to joining one of the most exclusive clubs in college basketball, the 1,000-point club. With 21 points against Northern Colorado, Morrow now has 993 points and needs just seven more to become the 18
th player in Eastern Washington women's basketball history to eclipse 1,000 points.
Morrow's performance jumped her to 18th on Eastern's all-time scoring list after beginning the evening in 21
st. She needs just 28 more points to move into 17
th all-time.
UP NEXT: After Thursday's game, the Eagles have an eight-day break from competition before they head back to Montana to take on Montana State on Jan. 19 in Bozeman. Eastern returns home to host Portland State on Jan. 24 for a special 11 a.m. matinee at Reese Court for the annual Kid's Day.
