CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University volleyball team has a quick road trip to nearby Moscow, Idaho, to take on the Idaho Vandals on Tuesday (Nov. 12) at 6 p.m.

The Eagles, who sit at 6-20 overall with a 4-10 record in Big Sky Conference play, are coming off of a week that saw them fall to Montana State (3-1) but beat Montana in five sets, both at Reese Court.
Idaho suffered a loss to both Montana schools at home, falling to Montana in five sets and Montana State in three and enter Tuesday's match on a two-game losing streak.
The Vandals are currently in a three-way tie for third place in the Big Sky with an overall record of 12-14 and a conference mark of 8-6. The Eagles are tied for ninth along with Montana and ahead of Idaho State.
Eastern Washington will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak to the Vandals. Eastern has not beat Idaho since Oct. 15, 2016 in a five-set victory in Moscow. The Eagles trail the all-time series 20-38 and are just 9-20 all time on the road against UI.
The two teams met this season on Oct. 8 in Cheney where Eastern suffered a 3-1 loss. Despite the results, the Eagles out-hit the Vandals .282 (65k-19e-163ta) to .271 (59k-13e-170ta) and had four players compile double-digit kills, led by
Ashlyn Blotzer's 17 and
MaKenna Davis' 15.
Catelyn Linke had 26 digs while
Ana Paula Zandona notched a then-career-high 52 assists.
The Vandals are currently third in the Big Sky in hitting percentage with a .228 clip, but allow their opponents to swing .212. They also lead the league with 2.77 blocks per set. Kyla Palmbush (.334) and Nicole Ball (.320) are second and third, respectively, in hitting percentage among Big Sky foes. The duo is also third and fourth in blocks per set.
Eastern Washington hits at .142 clip with 10.9 kills, 10.1 assists, 1.3 aces, 15.3 digs and 1.5 blocks per set.
Ashlyn Blotzer leads the way with 2.19 kills and .65 blocks per set while hitting .215. Freshman
Nicoletta Capizzi is swinging .222 with 1.88 kills and .58 blocks per set.
Catelyn Linke leads the team and ranks fifth in the Big Sky with 4.43 digs per set while
Ana Paula Zandona is ninth in the conference with 8.04 assists per set. Both Zandona, Blotzer and
MaKenna Davis have totaled over 20 aces so far this season.
After Tuesday's match, the Eagles return home to host Northern Colorado in the final home match of the season at Reese Court on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 4:05 p.m. Pacific time. The Bears have already qualified for the Big Sky Conference Tournament and have clinched at least a share of the regular season title.
