SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team finished day one of the SDSU Fall Classic II today (Nov. 8) in San Diego, Calif. The Eagles left the day with a victory over Montana in singles play, with
Stephanie Broussard earning the victory.
"We faced some really tough competition today and I'm proud of the desire and heart that each player showed on the court, even when we were down. We kept digging and fighting for everything we could get, and those are the gritty things I look for and that sets the tempo for the team moving forward," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "The building blocks for success are there and I think we can build on some things tactically to help us in close match situations, but those things will come as we gain experience. I'm really happy for
Stephanie Broussard today. She has been working really hard to come back from an injury and she played very well today to get a nice win over Montana in a tough three-set match. Everyone will get another doubles and singles match tomorrow to continue building confidence and working on our match-toughness."
The tournament is set to resume tomorrow (Nov. 9) starting with doubles play at 9 a.m. Pacific time.
