Eagles Open Big Sky Play at Home Against Weber State and Idaho State

Conference action begins on Dec. 28 at Reese Court

GAME NOTES

CHENEY, Wash. –
A new season awaits the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team as Big Sky Conference play begins this week. The Eagles host Weber State at Reese Court on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2:05 p.m. before Idaho State comes to town on Monday, Dec. 30 at 6:05 p.m.

For those able to make it to Reese Court, take advantage of the December Days ticket special. The first two children (12 and under) receive complimentary general admission tickets after the purchase of an adult ticket as well as discounts for senior citizens for the two remaining games in December.
 
LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles wrapped up non-conference play at the Roo Holiday Classic on Dec. 20-21, dropping contests to Kansas City and Bradley.
 
Bella Cravens led the team in scoring in both games and was named to the all-tournament team. She put together a stat line of 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.0 assists per game and shot 41.7% from the field.
 
Eastern Washington had three in double figures in each game, as Jessica McDowell-White and Jenna Dick also put together double digit performances during both contests.
 
A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington concludes the non-conference season with an overall record of 1-8. Their lone win came over Northwest Christian, but the Eagles also had narrow losses to Pepperdine (53-52) and Boise State (63-61) on last-second shots.
 
The Eagles have four players who average over 8.0 points per game, led by Bella Cravens (8.8), Jessica McDowell-White (8.4), Grace Kirscher (8.1) and Kennedy Dickie (8.0). Jenna Dick adds 7.6. All five players have led the team in scoring this year, with Cravens leading the team in three out of nine games.
 
Cravens also leads the team with 8.7 rebounds per game, logging three games with double-digit rebounds and two double-doubles. Her total also ranks her second in the Big Sky and 89th nationally.
 
The sophomore also adds 1.6 blocks per game which is fourth in the Big Sky and 92nd in the nation. She has four games with over two blocks this season.
 
McDowell-White leads the team with 4.6 assists per game, good for fourth in the conference and 73rd across Division I. The sophomore has also drained 19 three-pointers this season.
 
As a team, the Eagles make 33.3 percent of their shots and average 53.3 points per game. They rank in the top-ten in the Big Sky in blocked shots (3.1), assists (13.1) and steals (7.2) per game. Eastern Washington is also comfortable with the long ball, making 7.4 three-pointers per game to rank 69th in the nation.
 
A LOOK AT THE WILDCATS: Weber State finished the non-conference season with an overall record of 2-7. WSU closed the preseason with a 72-46 routing at home against Utah Valley and a 75-46 loss to Utah on Dec. 20. The Wildcats were picked to finish 11th in both preseason polls.
 
The Wildcats boast two players who average double figures in Liz Graves (14.1) and Ula Chamberlin (11.1). Graves is the reigning Big Sky player of the week after scoring 26 points against Utah Valley and 21 against Utah.
 
Weber State averages 53.3 points per game on 36.0 percent accuracy from the field.
 
SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Washington trails the all-time series with the Wildcats, 35-44, but have won eight out of the last 10.
 
The Eagles have won one-straight, with the victory coming in the first round of the 2018 Big Sky Tournament in Boise, Idaho on March 11. Eastern Washington drained 14 three-pointers against WSU, which was one shy of the program record. Jessica McDowell-White scored a career-high 19 points while Grace Kirscher added 11.
 
EWU and Weber State split the regular season meetings last season, each picking up a road win. Eastern Washington beat the Wildcats in Ogden by a score of 64-58 to open conference play while Weber State topped the Eagles at Reese Court to close Big Sky action by a score of 81-74.
 
At Reese Court, the Eagles are 20-16 and head coach Wendy Schuller owns a 22-17 overall record over the Wildcats.
 
A LOOK AT THE BENGALS: Idaho State wraps up the preseason with an overall record of 4-5 and are on a three-game losing streak, all coming by less than 10 points. The Bengals were selected to finish fourth in both Big Sky preseason polls.
 
ISU puts up 72.6 points per game on 44.2 percent accuracy from the field, which is first in the Big Sky. They are also second in the Big Sky in three-point field goal percentage with 36.3 percent. The Bengals are second in the conference with 3.6 blocks per game and lead with 17.5 assists per game.
 
The Bengals have three players that average double figures in Callie Bourne (12.7), Estefania Ors (11.3) and Dora Goles (11.0).
 
SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Washington leads the all-time series over the Bengals, 39-36 and have won six out of the last 10 meetings.
 
The Eagles lost both regular season meetings with Idaho State last season, but got their revenge in the 2018 Big Sky Quarterfinals with a 67-65 overtime upset. Bella Cravens earned the first double-double of her career that game with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Eastern Washington is 23-12 all-time over ISU at Reese Court.
 
UP NEXT: Eastern Washington hits the road to face Portland State on Jan. 4 for the first time since the Vikings beat the Eagles last season for the Big Sky title. The game is set for 2 p.m. in Portland, Ore.
