Eastern Returns to Play After Big Win Over Big Sky Opponent Montana State Last Weekend

EWU will play Gonzaga and Wyoming this weekend

CHENEY, Wash.-- The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team returns to the courts this weekend as they take on Gonzaga University (Feb. 15) and then host the University of Wyoming (Feb. 17). After this past weekend's victory over Montana State 5-2, the Eagles have an overall record of 3-2 on their 2019 season.

"We are coming off of a great conference win last week and we are looking to continue our growth and momentum this weekend with some tough non-conference play," said head coach Dustin Hinson. "It's fun to play Gonzaga every year since they are our closest Division I competition and we are looking forward to welcoming Wyoming on Sunday for what should be another very competitive match. We will continue to focus on process and performance with these matches and are looking to improve some aspect of our game each time we step on the court."

EWU will travel to Gonzaga to take on the Bulldogs on February 15. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. The Bulldogs are 2-1 on the season with victories over Idaho (6-1) and Nebraska (4-1). Gonzaga is led by head coach D.J. Gurule, who is in his 15th year as head coach.

Before the weekend ends, EWU will return home to host the visiting University of Wyoming. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. PT at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney, Wash. The Cowgirls are 4-4 on the season and are led by head coach Dean Clower, who is in his eighth year as head coach.

After this weekends matches against GU and Wyoming the Eagles will be back in action on February 23 at home when they host another Big Sky Conference opponent, Northern Colorado at 11 a.m.
