Eagles Take on New Mexico and Portland State this Friday and Sunday

EWU returns to Cheney, Wash. for home match on Friday

CHENEY, Wash.-- The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team will host New Mexico (March 15) in Cheney, Wash., and then travel to Portland State (March 17) to take on the Vikings. The Eagles return to competition after a loss to Boise State last Saturday (4-3) and a victory over the College of Idaho on Sunday (7-0) on the road. EWU has an overall record of 6-6 and 3-1 in Big Sky Conference play.

"This week's matches will be a little unconventional since we have a non-conference matchup at home Friday and then hit the road for a conference match at Portland State on Sunday," said head coach Dustin Hinson. "We are looking forward to both matches and we see them each as opportunities to grow as players and teammates."

The match against New Mexico is set to begin at 10 a.m. Pacific time. The Lobos have an overall record of 5-7 with victories over Abilene Christian (6-1), Cameron (5-0), UTSA (4-1), Northern Arizona (4-3) and UTEP (7-0). The team is led by head coach Stephanie Wooten-Quijada, who is in her second season as head coach.

Before the weekend is over, EWU will travel to face the Vikings in Portland where the match is set to begin at 10 a.m. PT. The Vikings have an overall record of 1-5 with lone victory over Lewis-Clark State (7-0).

After this weekend's matches the Eagles will return to competition on March 24 and 26 when they travel to California to take on UC Irvine and CSUN.
