ST. GEORGE, Utah-- The Eastern Washington University golf team concluded their second and final day of competition today (March 15) at the 2019 Pizza Hut Lady Invitational, which is being hosted by Southern Utah at the Sunbrook Golf Course. The Eagles finished the tournament tied for eighth place overall along with Fairleigh Dickinson. Eastern shot 625 (315, 310) total strokes after two rounds of golf.
"This was a rough tournament for us," said head coach
Brenda Howe. "There are holes out here that require precise shots and we failed to execute the shots we needed to. It's important that we not only put this one behind us, but also that we learn from our mistakes this week."
Out of the five Big Sky Conference teams who competed in this week's tournament, the Eagles finished third overall, following Southern Utah who finished in second place overall with 598 total strokes.
Eastern was 36 strokes away from first place and 27 total strokes away from tying with Southern Utah for second place overall. California Baptist won the tournament after shooting a 589 (292, 297). North Dakota State's Taylor McCorkle took first place overall after she shot a 141 (76, 65).
