Final Week of Regular Season Takes Place at Home for Eastern Washington

The Eagles will honor four seniors prior to Saturday's game with a first-round bye still on the line

CHENEY, Wash. – The final week of the regular season has arrived for the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team and it will finish at Reese Court when the Eagles host Idaho State (March 7) and Weber State (March 9) for Senior Day.

Tip-off is set for 6:05 p.m. and 2:05 p.m. on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. Prior to Saturday's game, seniors Amira Chandler, Violet Kapri Morrow, Baylee Rexing and Alissa Sealby will be honored before they take to their home floor one final time.

Together, the four combine for 372 games played and collected 66 wins during their times as Eagles, which is the ninth-most from a senior class in program history.

Seniors ages 55 and up and juniors ages 4-17 can buy a special $4.00 ticket at the entrance to Reese Court prior to Saturday's game. For more ticket information, visit GoEags.com/tickets.

HOW TO WATCH: Both games can be streamed for free on WatchBigSky.com or on Pluto TV Channel 234. Additionally, live stats will be available on EWUStats.com and in-game updates including video highlights can be found by following @EWUWBB on Twitter.

BIG SKY IN BOISE: Following the final home games, the Eagles will head to Boise, Idaho for the 2019 Big Sky Conference Tournament presented by My Place Hotels on March 11-15.

With just two games to go in the regular season, the Eagles sit in sixth-place in the Big Sky Conference standings with a 9-9 mark in league play. With Idaho, Northern Colorado, Portland State and Idaho State all clinching first-round byes for the tournament next week, Eastern Washington is battling with Montana State for the fifth and final bye.

The Bobcats are currently in fifth with a 10-8 mark in conference play and will host Sacramento State and Portland State at home. The Eagles can move into fifth place with wins over both Idaho State and Weber State and if Montana State loses to both Sacramento State and Portland State. Should both team's conference records be tied at the end of the regular season, then the seeding will be decided by a series of tiebreakers as Eastern Washington and Montana State split the meetings this season.

Eastern Washington has not finished lower than a fifth seed since the 2011 season. Additionally, the Eagles will be searching for their 10th conference win on Thursday. They have garnered at least 10 wins in league play for the past eight out of nine seasons, the only Big Sky program to do so.

Violet Kapri Morrow ranks 47th in the nation and fifth in the Big Sky with 18.7 points per game. She recently became the eighth Eagle in program history to record over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 assists in a career. She also leads the Eagles with 6.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

Freshman Grace Kirscher is the other Eagle to average double figures per game with 10.6 points per contest. Fellow freshman Bella Cravens has blocked at least one shot in the past 13 games and ranks 75th in the nation with 1.6 blocks per game and 83rd in total blocks (43), both are third in the Big Sky.

As a team, the Eagles rank 26th in the nation with 8.4 three-pointers per game. They have attempts 661 which is 51st and drain 34.3 percent of them from deep to rank 63rd. 1,000 POINTS AND COUNTING: On Jan. 10, 2019 in a road victory at Montana, senior Violet Kapri Morrow became the 18th member of Eastern Washington's 1,000-point club. Needing just seven points at the beginning of the night, Morrow scored 17 points to reach the milestone.

She began the season with 800 career points and took just 106 career games to join the club, the 15th-fastest in program history. The Tacoma, Wash., native is the first player to reach the milestone since Delaney Hodgins during the 2016-17 season.

After an eight-point performance at Portland State, Morrow now has 1,267 career points and counting, which is eighth all-time on Eastern's career scoring list, needing 23 more to move into seventh to pass Vanessa Jones (1989-92) after beginning the season in 30th.

During Saturday's game, Morrow became the eighth player in EWU history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 assists in a career. She now had 502 career rebounds and 136 assists. She is the 11th player to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

A LOOK AT THE BENGALS: Idaho State has clinched a first-round bye for the tournament and are 18-9 overall and 13-5 in Big Sky play. The Bengals have not played in a game since Feb. 28, which was a 61-59 loss to Northern Colorado at home. ISU has not lost back-to-back games since November and wrap up the regular season at first-place Idaho on Saturday.

The Bengals lead the conference and are 31st in the nation with a 44.6 percent field goal percentage and are second in the Big Sky and 27th nationally in three-point field goal percentage (36.5). Additionally, they are 19th nationally in field-goal percentage defense, only allowing their opponents to drain 35.8 percent of their shots.

Idaho State is led by trio of double-digit scorers in Grace Kenyon (14.2), Saylair Grandon (12.4) and Estefania Ors (12.5).

SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Washington has the 41-37 edge over Idaho State in the all-time series. The Eagles have also won five out of the last seven meetings, but lost to the Bengals on Dec. 31 this season by a score of 63-48 in Pocatello. Violet Kapri Morrow scored 21 points in the loss.
