PHOENIX, Ariz.-- The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team competed in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Big Sky Women's Tennis Championship today (April 25) where they fell 4-3 to No. 5 Southern Utah. Today's loss marks the end of the 2019 season where the Eagles finished with an overall record of 12-10 and 8-2 in Big Sky play, setting a program record in conference wins in a single season.
"Just like the last match against Southern Utah, things came down to the last match and it was a real hard fought battle to the finish by both teams," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "Congratulations to Southern Utah for playing well and coming out with the victory. This loss has nothing to do with the lack of fight or desire by every single one of our players. They poured themselves into each match and today it wasn't enough. That definitely stings and we will feel it for awhile. This result takes nothing away from how proud I am to coach every one of these young ladies. They work hard and they have a lot of pride in what we are building as a program. It was a fantastic season and we have a lot to celebrate as we move forward and continue building for next season."
