Women’s Basketball Back at Reese Court for First of Seven Home Games in February

The Eagles welcome Sacramento State and Northern Arizona to Cheney this Saturday and Monday

GAME NOTES

CHENEY, Wash. –
After a road-heavy January that only saw the Eastern Washington University women's basketball team at home once, the Eagles are back for a pair of games this week. EWU hosts Sacramento State this Saturday (Feb. 1) at 2:05 p.m. and Northern Arizona on Monday (Feb. 3) at 6:05 p.m. to wrap up the first half of Big Sky Conference play.

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: Eastern Washington sits at 2-15 overall with a 1-7 mark in league play after losses at Southern Utah and Northern Colorado last week.
 
Grace Kirscher leads the team with 9.5 points per game and a trio of Eagles in Kennedy Dickie (8.8), Jessica McDowell-White (8.7) and Jenna Dick (8.6) average just over eight points per game.
 
Several Eagles also rank in the top-100 nationally in various statistical categories. Dick is 34th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage, draining 42 percent of her shots from deep to rank second in the Big Sky. McDowell-White dishes 4.8 assists per game to rank 57th in the nation and in second in the conference. Bella Cravens racks up 1.60 blocked shots per game to rank 80th.
 
As a team, Eastern Washington is dangerous behind the three-point line. They make 8.1 three-pointers per game to rank 33rd in the nation, draining 33.2 percent of their attempts to rank 92nd. The Eagles have made 138 to rank 81st.
 
Two Eagles have made over 30 three-pointers this season in Dick and McDowell-White, while Dickie and Kirscher have made over 20.
 
A LOOK AT THE HORNETS: Sacramento State has an overall record of 5-13 and are 3-6 in Big Sky play. All three of their conference wins have come in the last five games, but they are fresh off of an 85-65 loss to Northern Arizona on Monday.
 
The Hornets boast four players who average double figures, led by Kennedy Nicholas who averages 15.0 points per game and has five double-doubles this season. Camariah King (13.8), Gabi Bade (11.8) and Summer Menke (10.6) are also averaging over 10 points per game.
 
Sacramento State is the number one team in the Big Sky in scoring offense with 74.1 points per game, but are the last team in scoring defense, letting their opponents score 76.9 points per game. They also lead the league in three-pointers per game with 8.9, but rank last in the conference in three-point field goal percentage, only making 27.2 percent of their shots from behind the arc.
 
SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Washington leads the all-time series over Sacramento State, 35-17. Last season, each team picked up a win on each other's home floor. The Eagles lost 73-70 at home and bounced back to take the 71-62 victory on the road.
 
EWU has won seven out of the last 10 matchups and are 16-7 all-time over the Hornets at Reese Court.
 
A LOOK AT THE LUMBERJACKS: Northern Arizona is 9-9 overall and 6-3 in the Big Sky to rank third in the conference standings. The Lumberjacks fell to Portland State, 66-54, on the road before bouncing back to beat Sacramento State by 20 points.
 
The Lumberjacks boast three players who rank in the top-eight in scoring in the Big Sky in Khiarica Rasheed (16.2), Nina Radford (14.2) and Jacey Bailey (13.7). Bailey is the reigning Big Sky Player of the Week after pulling in two double-doubles last week.
 
NAU is second in the conference with 74.0 points per game and make 42.8 percent of their attempts from the field.
 
SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Washington is riding a five-game winning streak over Northern Arizona and haven't lost to the Lumberjacks since Jan. 19, 2017. Going even further back, EWU has beaten NAU at Reese Court six-straight times, with the last loss coming on Feb. 9, 2013.
 
The Eagles lead the all-time series over Northern Arizona, 40-26 and are 25-8 at Reese Court. Last season, Eastern Washington squeaked out a 64-62 win on the road and an 81-76 win at home.
 
UP NEXT: The second half of Big Sky play gets underway on Feb. 6 at Reese Court when Montana comes to town for Kid's Day and a special 11 a.m. tip.
 
On Saturday, Feb. 8, Eastern Washington heads to Montana State to try and avenge a double-overtime loss from earlier this season.
