CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team starts Big Sky Conference play off in the win column following a 6-1 victory over Idaho State today (Feb. 15) at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse in Cheney.
With the win, Eastern improves to an even 3-3 overall and 1-0 in league action, while Idaho State drops to 3-4 and 0-1. The Eagles have now won three-straight matches over the Bengals.
"Today was an incredibly tough match, but we knew that coming in and we expected a battle. We prepared in a smart way all week to trust in what we do best and to expect things to be difficult. We knew that if we responded well to challenges that were going to come our way in matches, we would be able to come through in the end," said head coach
Dustin Hinson. "I'm really proud of the no-quit attitude we have on this team. Each player brought a desire to do well and the grit and determination to be strong and stand up and fight in difficult moments. We feel good about starting strong in conference play. We know every match is going to be a challenge moving forward but we showed that we are prepared to leave it all on the court on match days."
