Women’s Tennis Hosts Weber State to 4-3 Deficit

EWU finishes weekend home matches 1-1 as their unbeaten Big Sky Conference streak comes to an end

Box Score

CHENEY, Wash. – After a tough battle, the Eastern Washington University women's tennis team fell short against Weber State today (Mar. 7) to a score of 4-3 at the Jim Thorpe Fieldhouse. The Eagles move to an overall 6-4 and 4-1 Big Sky Conference record while the Wildcats improve to 2-0 and 7-3 overall.

Collectively the Eagles have a 23-7 conference record in singles play as EWU players Rylee Braeden and Louise Waite reach a five-match winning streak with an unbeaten 5-0 conference mark in No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

Additionally, Zoey Nelson and Braeden improve to a 4-1 doubles play record against Big Sky opponents with a three-match winning streak.

"We had an exciting conference match today and we faced a really tough team. We gave all we had but came out just short in the end. I take nothing away from what we brought to the courts today," said head coach Dustin Hinson. "We fought hard and worked all the way through and I'm very proud of the integrity and sportsmanship that we showed. We know it's a long season and we will battle back and be ready for the next match. This one stings but we will use it as motivation moving forward."

The Eagles now have a three-match losing streak against Weber State as they fall to an overall series record of 6-16.
