CHENEY, Wash. – The Eastern Washington University women's tennis team looks to face Washington State this Saturday (Jan. 30) at 3 p.m. Pacific time on the Simmelink Courts at Hollingbery Fieldhouse in Pullman, Wash. The Eagles sit 0-1 following a 5-2 loss versus the Gonzaga Bulldogs, while the Cougars currently sit at 0-2 overall.

"We are looking forward to competing again this weekend. We have been working on some specific adjustments to our tactics since our first match, and we are ready to go out and put these adjustments to work in competition," said head coach Dustin Hinson. "WSU is tough and we are looking at this match as a great opportunity to learn and develop as players and as a team."

The Eagles have yet to find victory over the Cougars as they have an 0-24 overall series record.

The Cougar squad is led by head coach Lisa Hart who enters her 18th season at the helm. Before the season was cut short due to the global pandemic, Hart led her team to an overall winning record of 11-3. Additionally, WSU returns senior Michaela Bayerlova who finished the 2019-20 season 13-0 in the No. 1 singles spot.

Following the match, the Eagles were set to host the University of Montana on Jan. 31, but it has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns in the UM program and will not be rescheduled this season. EWU's next match will be against Washington on the road on Feb. 12 with first serve set to begin at 11 a.m. PT in Seattle, Wash.
